LGW-LAS 22/03/09 - Engine Trouble

Hi All,

I had friends onboard the LGW-LAS flight last Sunday (22/03/09), they think the plane was Ruby Tuesday. They apparently suffered engine trouble after 2 hours and returned to LGW. They got there a day late on the same plane after a night in the Hilton.

Just wondering if anyone has any more details on what went wrong?

Well I remember seeing a Virgin 747 at Gatwick around 1330 on the 22nd as I was in the area, and It looked as if it had just landed or had just come in from somewhere which I thought was strange at the time because usually the latest Virgin arrival into Gatwick is at 09:50(The Las Vegas flight). Then when I got home I went on the BAA website and under departures it sayed something like Las Vegas - 1515 - Scheduled which I again thought was strange as the flight usually goes at 1045. Then In the afternoon Somebody I know who works at the airport sayed when they walked through the Gatwick Hilton they were checking in a Virgin Atlantic flight for day rooms which I thought at the time could have been a delayed Virgin flight to Las Vegas?

I read on PPRuNe that it was an oil leak
