Food on Las Vegas route

Hi all, we are going on this route five weeks today and really looking forward to it. I have been trying to find out from the Virgin website about what food is provided on the flight, as it's such a long one. We don't have any special dietary requirements, I was just interested in the number of meals and if they are snack or cooked.

Forgot to mention - we are in economy class.

Hi and welcome to the site.

You will get a 1 hot meal, 1 cold snack type meal and also a snack (ice cream or similar) during the flight. Drinks are free, and there will be a few runs through the cabin, if you want more you can go to the galley and ask and there is usually water/juice available for you to help yourself.

When we did this flight numerous times last year, the main meal was of a good quality. The snack was like a warm pizza thing - actually very pleasant. You will not be hungry!

I agree with musicmanbrain that you will not be hungry.[y]

I often end up refusing food as there is sometimes too much and when sitting for hours, can really make you feel bloated.

I find a long walk round the aircraft often helps this and is good for the circulation too.[:D]

The service outbound to vegas is Drinks, Main meal, 2nd Drinks, Hot Wrap, Ice Cream, Afternoon Tea.

Not to take over a thread, but whats the service on the SFO route like now?
Does it still include 3 meal runs (1 main, 1 hot snack and 1 cold snack + ice cream)?

I just flew this route LAS-LGW and it was:

Drinks + Pretzels
Hot Meal followed by Tea/Coffee
No ice cream
Hot breakfast (Egg + Cheese Bagel) along with Nutrigrain-style bar, with Tea/Coffee

ISTR that ice cream snack service is only done on daylight flights (usually outbound from the UK).

I just flew LGW-LAS and there was no hot wrap this time

Sorry to say but the food on Virgin flights has gone downhill over many years to the point where our last meal (from EWR) was disgusting. My son, who hoovers up any airline food, even proclaimed it to yukky to eat.

'Starter' consisted of shredded lettuce, grated carrot, 1 bruised cherry tomato and a few sliced olives. Main meals were a coagulated mess, pudding OK. Breakfast was a choice of a muffin or a cereal bar. One drink pre main meal, one glass of wine with dinner and any other drinks requested from galley were served VERY reluctantly.

I've travelled many many times with Virgin but I'm afraid my loyalty is being tested to the limit with their cost cutting.

Althogh the food on Virgin Atlantic seems to be a bit hit and miss, like most other airlines, the recent trip reports of PAX in economy, like yourselves, tend to show a better quality an quantity than you received. It also sound like you had less than satisfactory crew given your comments about drinks. This shouldnt happen,

So maybe put it down to bad luck and try again ? I am not sure it is worth quitting loyality after just one bad flight.

I appreciate what you're saying and have experienced good and bad with Virgin (as with any airline). However it's not just the quality of the food which has declined but the little extras - the snacks for kids on boarding, the decent breakfast, the generosity with drinks (and not just on this flight). I've also suffered more broken tv consoles than I care to remember and have never ever been able to spend my miles as there always seems to be someone who got there first or the miles plus money option costs so much in taxes and extras that I may as well just pay full price. We tried to upgrade with miles for a forthcoming trip to Dubai and were told that since we've booked economy seats we're not eligible - nice [V]
