need some enlightening on renewal of my GC.

I understand that I need 30 points to renew it over the coming 12/13 months, but what happens if I hit that in, say 8 months - do I then get another year tacked on to the end of my original year, or does it get reset to a new year starting on the month I reach 30 points.
would imagine the former, but wanted to clarify. thanks.

When you reach 30 points for Au renewal it does not reset to a new year from that point on but continues for the remainder of that year. Any other tier points you may earn during that period no longer count and do not run over to the next year.

thanks, that's what I needed to know. It seems I was over-thinking it!

that makes sense because if you did reset your annual immediately on getting 30TP, you might start postponing flights, to prevent hitting the magic number too soon. (or worse - start using other carriers to slow down reaching 30 too quickly!)

GC is very worth it - the dedicated security line at LHR is great, as is the clubhouse.

However, JFK wouldn't let me use their 'priority' security line though (GC with an economy ticket) - is that right? that would be very useful, as club house there is 'land side' of security, and takes much time to get through before boarding.

I think you should get priority security lines at all airports (where available) with your VS AU card.

Make sure you do flash your AU card though. This worked for me going though the chaos at ORD earlier this year when I was flying economy home.

PE gets access to the fast track at JFK, though it's not always quicker anyway, just less snaking around to get to the front.

Ditto - JFK premier class security line is often no better than non-premier ...

Intersting - I came back via JFK a while back with the family and was flying P/E and had my Gold Card and they still wouldn't let me through the priority line.

that was my experience. flashing the GC made no difference at the JFK premier line, and I was directed (despite protests) to the regular line.

at the end of the day its not such a big deal, as its just a shortcut, not a private channel, but would be nice if this could be cleared up with the TSA.
