iPhone use on-board

It may have been asked or mentioned before, but do Virgin allow you to use an iPhone in 'Airplane Mode' during the flight? I'd prefer to use it rather than my now rather dated Archos Gmini video player if I can, but would prefer to find out now rather than when I'm onboard and realise I haven't loaded any 'new' content onto my Gmini in the last year or so [;)]

(I always take my gmini with me, as it has a compact flash port which I use for backing up the memory cards from my digital camera, so I'll have it with me anyway)

There is the standard announcement before take off that all electrical items with transmitting capability that have flight mode; must have it enabled before doors close, so that they can be used in-flight.

Not exactly the same thing, but near enough to the naked eye. I watch movies on my iPod Touch and no one has ever questioned its use.

Yes, I use my iPhone in flight mode whilst on-board. Never had any issues doing so.

'"Ditto' to what has been said above. Set to flight mode...switch off for take off and then back on for use during the flight. Depending where you sat there are Iphone power leads carried onboard

Yup, in one of my Trip Reports I reported how I spent 20 to 30 mins talking to an FSM and demonstrating it, as she had just bought an iTouch, but wanted an iPhone.

I dont even switch mine off. I just enable flight safe mode once the doors are closed then disable flight safe mode again when the door opens at the other end.

Ditto - used all the way over on the VS001 today with no issues.

Cool [:)] I've only had it a week or two anyway, so I better getting loading some more stuff onto it. Stuck with A343 (so I'm guessing no vport) on the way to ORD in just over a weeks time, so I'm not holding out much hope for something decent on the Virgin movie selection.

Aren't all electronic items supposed to be turned off for take off and landing regardless of flight safe mode. [V] [:D]

I use my iPhone all the time on board, Just ensure its in Flight mode as can be quite embarrassing if you get a txt or it rings because one has forgotten to switch it over

I usually Download a few films to watch and Also there's a great App called 'flight status' which is handy
