Well given I am from Harrogate it would be rude not to attend.

From Harrogate or living in Harrogate? I live in that lovely town [:D]. Not sure I'll be popping my v-flyer social cherry though as I may be away.

Schooled in Knaresborough, lived in Harrogate for like ever, lol.

A trip to the York Dungeons after a few bevvies by the river would be fun and a go on the York eye.

Or a convoy of hired little red motor boats with bubbly n strawberries.

Go HL! Well come HL!

HL??

Sheesh and that's sober... HL obviously made such an impression at the mods' meet the other week with her new svelte appearance... sorry DL...

Sober?[:0]Blimey, no excuse then [8D].... Apology accepted [:)].I'm supposed to be at a ball in Blackpool that night. Can I manage to get back for the proceedings before my carriage turns in to a pumpkin (I'd not be drinking obviously [:0])??? Would I look a bit odd wandering the streets of York in a long frock ???
Hoodie over the ballgown. Classy!![}:)]

[:D] The last thing I expected was another v-flyer from Harrogate.

I went to Granby as it was called back then, thankfully that crap school never held me back.

Hmmm, York, I usually only go there for the races, will have to leave my decision till nearer the time though.

It's quite pretty in the sunshine [;)]

We've booked into the Hotel du Vin for the Friday and Saturday night, bit more than some but stayed there before and it was pleasant. I know they have a 2 night stay minimum over weekends.

I think we will just prob drive back, what with it being so close, plus the last time we met V-Flyers and I drank alcohol, I had a VERY bad head the next morning.

It was actually red wine, poured all too frequently by Mat & Dean IIRC.

I'm shocked, I would never try and get somebody knowingly drunk, especially not some poor northern soul who's not used to this fancy continental wine. And I think Pete might have had something to do with it also [:D]

Thought it was nice last time, underfloor heating, nice bar but not super cheap. About a 15 minute walk into the Minster.

The Marriott in York is 90/nt via Expedia.

There is also the Jorvik Hotel - which is showing as 136 in total for Fri and Sat Night.

It does appear that to get the best rates, you need to stay Fri and Sat night.

EDIT: We've just booked the Hilton.

From what I can gather it was fully booked for the Sat, when looking earlier in the week?

They often only do two night stays over the weekend so if you only put in Saturday it will show up unavailable.

When I saw about the two night minimum I tried that and indeed it was showing no availability. Two nights you're fine.

Anyone thinking of booking the Marriott its a fair walk out of town. We passed it on the way home last time, its about 35 minds walk to the centre.
