It is with great regret that I announce the death of my Prius, uncermoniously totalled this afternoon as it was parked outside my flat, skewered by a Maserati against a signpost.

As a dedication I have left some pictures of the solemn occasion here on Facebook.

Cheers, Howard

Ouch, poor Prius. On the bright side at least you get a new car?!

Ouch. On the plus side, the Maserati will be hurting for a while too.

Can't you spin it so the tabloids pay for your "My Prius brakes failed" story?

Like my XJ8 - love it. Although unlike a Prius, you have to pay the congestion charge!

Yeah, I went through all that, I had my petrol fetish. Lotus, TVR, Big Fat V8 Merc. Then Ken Livingstone announced he was to bring in £25/day for all Band G CO2 emmission vehicles and no 90% discount for residents. So I looked for a car that I liked that wasn't Band G. There weren't any, so I went in the other direction and got the Prius. The most boring car in the world, but it's also been the most reliable car I've ever had by a very long way. £10/year congestion charge registration, £15/year car tax - the new ones are £0/year.

At least I won't have a sticky brake/accelerator problem any more, although the (k)nob who pranged me will prolly claim it did. I found out this morning from a witness that he was trying to blame the red car that you can see in some extra pics I uploaded this morning.

I pity the poor pedestrians, you can see in the first couple of new pics a couple with a pram very clearly distraught by the whole thing that I am toled had literally only happened seconds before as steam is thrown out of the Maserati. Very lucky no-one was injured considering it was about 1pm out side the Natural History Museum at the start of some school holidays.

You are taking this all quite well :0

At least you and nobody else was injured, but I would imagine a fair number of people on that busy street must have been shocked v(

Best of luck with your insurance company - I bet they will find something to attach some "blame" and thereby reduce your claim :(!
