Hmmm, well I think that 02 have done me a favour by not having any stock local to me, I think I'm going to stick with my 3GS until the contract finishes next year and then I'll get the updated 4 when it comes out net summer.

I am on O2 and can get it to drop three or four bars on the signal by bridging the black barrier between the two antenna, when I remove my thumb the signal returns to it's previous level. This happens every time although I have not had a problem with normal usage.

Just installed iOS 4.01, has the new larger bars on the lower end of the signal strength icon, too early to say if the new algorithm gives a more accurate representation of signal strength though.

I love the new patch for the signal problem.

It's like someone buying a new car which the hand book says should get 50 miles per gallon and after them driving it and only getting 25 miles per gallon complaining to the maker to be told -

"don't worry, we will fix that for you. Here, have a new hand book that tells you you will now get 25 miles to the gallon - happy now ?"

Brilliant :D

David

(the worrying thing is, I am still kinda tempted to get one :0 )

The bars do look a bit odd now. Guess we will find out at 18:00 GMT what Apple say in the press conference.

I'm more annoyed Apple still have not fixed the none charging iPads issue when plugged into a Windows PC.

Indeed!

And I am now glad I didn't rush to the iPhone 4 ...

Thanks for the info/link Leanne y)

Incase clear Snap Case for iPhone 4 ordered here :D

Might even see if CPW are refunding as that's where I got my other iPhone 4 case from!!

Just sacked O2 here as well as I'm going back to Virgin Mobile with my iPhone 4. Their 3G coverage is great round here unlike O2's non-existent 3G coverage. I'm getting 800mins + 3000texts + 1 Gb data for £20 a month on 30 day SIM only deal (more minutes/texts than I was getting from O2 for £20 too :D y) )

Thats what I ordered too.

I have already brought a case mate case to protect it, but as Apple are giving away free ones I'd like a clear one ii)

I need to insure my iPhone4.
Does anyone know who is the best to go with?
O2 want to charge me £15/month & £100 excess :0 if I claim! My bank (Lloyds TSB)will give me free mobile cover but the reviews I've read say to keep clear as claiming is a nightmare, which is the case with some other insurance reviews I've read.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

....as do I. Never needed to use it yet though but it does get good reviews.

The account charge is £12.50 a month but with the monthly £5 reward its only works out at £7.50 plus I get annual travel insurance, AA road side assistance and a few other bits and pieces thrown in as well.

I ordered the Belkin one too, after looking at the reviews on the other clear case. I don't intend to really use it and don't have any issue with signal. I will have to wait until I go back home to recieve it. I use du, which used to have a really bad reputation for bad signal too!

I don't have insurance and luckily I am now in a profit situation from it. I could afford to buy another SIM free iPhone with all the months I haven't been paying insurance - I had the original iPhone.

I ordered the Belkin one too, I thought it appeared a bit more streamlined than the Snap equivalent.

Just thought I would drop you all an update about my iPhone 4 experiences. I paid full price from the Apple store specifically so I could choose my mobile operator and so that I wasn't tied to a contract and my calculations showed it was actually cheaper to do so.

Well it now seems to get even better. I have just PAC'd over to Tesco Mobile (who use the O2 network). For a £10 top up I now get £30 worth of credit. Now on the downside you have to pay for all calls, all texts, all network access. But I have also opted for the weekly 'UNLIMITED' (well we'll see about that) internet access for £2 a week which comes out of the £30 credit I have.

So whilst on O2 I had to pay £10 a month to get my 'free' internet access, £10 top-up on Tesco should last me longer than a month. Out of the £30 top up (of which £20 has to be used or lost in the month) £8 goes to Internet Access leaving me £22 for calls and texts. Texts to you 'calling circle' are charged at 5p, call to the same are 10p a min. Therefore 300 texts (the O2 allowance in £10 top up) would take a further £15 - However, I have only been using about 150 texts a months tops (£7.50 on my new tarriff).

What I am going to attempt to do is to top up £10 once every two months. I am not sure it's achievable and I may have to raise it to £15 (which would give me £45 credit in Month 1 and £15 in month 2). Even allowing the £2 a week internet charges that leaves me with £22 month 1 call and text credit and £7 month 2.

I am by no means a big users of text or mobile minutes but I am on a bit of a crusade against the seemingly standard £30/£35 a month mobile operators are fleecing low usage users at the moment.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Oh, btw my experince of iPhone 4 is FANTASTIC - I love it. So much quicker than the iPhone 3G I had previously. I have just received my 'free' case from Apple to deal with the antenna problem that I personally have had no issues with. There are some very very good apps coming out that take advantage of the better spec of the 4. And most people that see the phone in use comment on the clarity and brightness of the screen. I can highly recommend it.

I couldn't agree more - I now have my US iPhone 4 and UK iPhone 3, the UK one will get upgraded next month. The 4 is fantastic!

Can I point out with Tesco mobile PAYG if you set up automated topups ie once a month or when below £x then you get a 10% discount, so if you top up £10 you only pay £9.
