After a bunch of meetings in the morning, and a relatively late lunch with my team, I jumped into a cab to head to the airport - traffic was very light, and I was soon at the check-in area. It all feels a little cramped with another airline sharing the row (is it Jet Blue?), but fortunately the UC line was empty and after a lot of faffing about by a couple at the desk I was quickly seen and off to the lounge.
Now, I have only been in the lounge twice before, and the last time was March last year, but I was welcomed back with a 'good to see you again' - I thought that was very nice, but then I do have an unusual name ...
After dumping myself in one of the red chairs I was promptly ignored for about 10 minutes until I had to grab someone to get a gin - that went down well, but no more was forthcoming. I was just about to get another one when they called the flight and said it was boarding (always a lie...)
I knew their trick and delayed by a few minutes, and then headed to security, which had the usual lot of people who look like they know what they are doing, and then struggle to take off shoes, belts, laptops out etc. The body scanner wasn't in use, so I've still yet to experience that.
The plane was at A5 which is a new one for me, and as I suspected it wasn't boarding, but we only had to wait a couple of minutes.
Once seated in 15K I tried to work out if the little girl in 12A would be noisy - I hoped not, and for the most part she wasn't, but she did get restless later in the flight - I think the cabin crew could have done more to help the parents there.
Champagne was quickly served, followed by sleep suits - I looked to be about the only person to change into mine despite everyone else taking them.
Once in the air service was a bit slow to start, but then once it got going it was excellent, I had another Gin (no lime though

Once dinner was finished I went straight to sleep, and then basically slept for the best part of the next 6 hours.
Breakfast (croissant and bacon roll) was excellent, and then a pretty quick landing into LHR, but sadly as often seems to be the case we had to wait for a stand.
Once off the plane, security was very quiet, and although the bags took about 5 minutes to arrive, mine was one of the first off (so priority bags working will there), and so I was quickly through to meet the taxi driver to take me home.
This was a much more pleasant flight than my last on from SFO (not a good flight in Y as previously reported), but in this one the cabin crew were friendly, looked like they were enjoying themselves, and always were around when you wanted something (and of course UC helps!).
Roll on my next flight!
