Hiya

Ive had my SQ Miles and Tier Points credit to my FC account but noticed something of interest ...

My HKG-SIN flight shows as total mileage of 2004 miles, and i recieved 3 tier points. I thought that for flights over 2000 miles you recieved 5 tier points, and i have checked the VS website to that effect.

So ... do i call FC and try and get those extra 2 tier points ... or for the sake of being 4 miles over the 2000, do you think its churlish??

:D

I guess it depends on how important the extra tier points are.

Personally I would go for it if you need those points - after all they make the rules.

Why not just call them and find out...? ;)

As any miles hoare knows, miles are miles, points are points :)

Maybe our RTW Princess is letting her halo/tiara slip.... [:p]

Thanks,

Doesn't seem churlish to me. Go for it. VS set the boundry, not you. If they didn't want people with 2004 miles claiming they should have set it at 2005 miles.

Sarah,
My take is that considering how much you likely spent on your RTW adventure (and the great publicity you provided to VS with your TRs)you deserve every last bit of miles, points, recognition and whatever else VS and partners can award.

Go for it.

Sarah,
Did you contact FC re this?

If so what was their response?

Hi Jonathan

The response was 'We'll look into it' LOL

The guy i spoke to was nice as pie and did admit that the rules suggest i should get 5 TPS not 3, and he said he would speak to his supervisor. I'll just keep an eye on my account and call them in a week if i dont see any changes.

My FC account by the way does say 'Congratulations, you've earned 40 tier points and have qualified for Flying Club Gold membership' - so at least i have that - and im now just waiting for my card to come in the post - and to change my Silver avatar to Gold!! :D:D

Certainly go for it - you never know when you might wish you had the extra TPs.

I think you'll find that the air distance from Singapore to Hong Kong is less than 2000 miles. Sometimes your statement will show miles that reflect a bonus - not the actual distance

Indeed, the actual flight distance is 1588 miles (according to the great circle mapper).

Yeah, this is odd ... OAG - the airline schedule bible says that SIN-HKG should be 1,591 miles. So where did the no. 2004 come from?

2 TP's can mean the difference in retaining Gold, so go for it.

It looks like the 2004 relates to the 1.25% based on the Business Class fare.

SIA website says 1594 Y Class & 1993 J Class so looks like VS calc might be a bit off.

Yup, HKG-SIN is about 1594 miles, so 2004 includes the mileage bonus.
