CDC style transfers from Kings Cross

With the BMI schedule and reliability being so shocking, contemplating a relaxing train run down to Kings Cross for a late afternoon flight to EWR in April.

However the idea of ferrying us both,mini,snr & NH's luggage thru the tube doesn't appeal. Nor does driving down.

Private transfer from Kings Cross to LHR? who's good/value for money...

Any local knowledge would be appreciated

Yep they do, although been given an online quote of £93ew
Trawling the net "Heathrowcars" showing region of 40-50ew which appears more reasonable, however the reliability risk on "unknowns" would concern me..

I have stopped using AddLee for airport runs - and moved wholly to Tristar - the AddLee drivers just moan to much!

I have used this company Chauffeur.co.uk several times to get from Tonty Towers to LHR and back with no problems.

A station waggon will be about £ 45 from central London but they have a range of vehicles.

The cars are clean and the drivers polite and they phone / text to let you know when they arrived etc. It will just take a little bit of coordination to arange a suitable meeting point at King's X but that shouldn't be a problem.

They are happy to provide quotes too.

Which ever company you use, they'll know a good spot to pick you up from - I'm pretty sure at Kings Cross I was told to be on Pancras Road - which was the road in between KG and St Pancras station.

where are you travelling from? i've found from MCR that the BA flight times are better than BMI now for VS connections, & touch wood i haven't had any reliability issues so far.

the tube is direct from KX, its a straight 45 minute run to heathrow central & then the short walk up the tunnel to T3

Now that Kings X tube has been 'improved' it's an awfully long way to get to the tube platforms now. Bad enough for a fit adult let alone anyone with luggage etc etc

The trick is to turn left at the bottom of the stairs from the station concourse rather than follow the signs to the right.

By turning left you'll head round to the "old" entrance to the Victoria & Piccadilly lines.

Depending on which platform you come in on to KX, there are three potential entrances to the Underground. Access to the lines is not fully open yet and they route you by some very long ways round. I used to do the commute to Liverpool St a decade ago and I am sure (as Tonty says) that "improvement" = "walking further".

Edited to add: I tried Tink's routing this morning and was denied due to their limiting access as there are a limited number of down escalators. However, in the spirit of sticking it to the man I also attempted my old route when coming off the Met line this evening and found it a good deal shorter than following the signs...
