Largest group of upgrades in one go?

Hi all,

Just an idle thought really and I'm posting just to satisfy my own curiosity - what has been the largest group of people you've travelled with that obtained an upgrade?

We've all know about it happening for individuals and couples but has anyone ever been in an upgraded group of three or more? [8D]

A couple of years ago myself, Mrs. Vips, my mum and dad were all upgraded from PE to UC when flying LHR - JFK. The powers that be waited until we got to the gate, ripped all 4 boarding cards up and told us we were turning left.

On the return trip, no such luck. All 4 of us seated and greeted in PE. Then a member of UC crew came up and asked Mrs. Vips if we minded being moved 'downstairs'. Well, what were we to do? Down we went to find a couple of glasses of champers waiting on the bar for us. Parents were livid...[}:)]

We had the family of 4 (although one was an infant) upgraded from Y to PE on our Orlando trip in April.

4 from PE to UC.

Well...

Didn`t happen to me but loads of PAX on my flight got upgraded.

Checked in at Vegas and had been allocated PE bulkhead seats where sky cots go, same as on the way out.

Check in agent made a call to see if we could go into Upper and was told no, so we retained our bulkhead seats but were told to listen out at the gate just in case we were called up to get new seat assignments.

As it turns out we didn`t get called up but at least 6 other PAX did and came away with Upper Class boarding cards. How annoying is that?

We got taken to one side as we were boarding and i jokingly asked if this was the upgrade line, no such luck, it was the additional security line...boooo

Had the upgrade dangled in our faces only to be denied at the gate.

We had a fab result some time ago when flying LGW to ANU arrived at PE checkin to be opuped to UC 6 of us Myself, Mrs N, 2 x inlaws and the 2 kidz:D

Posted this before but here is the funny bit:) My inlaws normally fly UC and on this trip had agreed to fly PE to be with us so a welcome result. On the return leg we all did checkin and chillout and were seated upstairs in PE. We arrived hot and bothered at ANU late on friday afternoon for our flight and just as we were about to board i was called to the gate "boarding passes please Mr N" got them out and they were torn up and new UC tickets written out. "What about my inlaws" I asked:D "Sorry only 4 seats left in UC" at that moment the tannoy sparked to life "Boarding now please all UC and PE passangers".

At this point my family had no idea what was going on as they all met me at the gate. We went through the gate and it was not untill we were on the tarmack that i explained what had happened to Mrs N.

Those of you who know ANU they put up two stairway into the plane one for UC and the other for PE and Y. I stopped at the first set of steps and explained to the inlaws that we were going UC and that we would see them on the plane[:0][:I]

We made our way into UC and Mrs was so[:I] and did not know what to do about her ma and pa. She went upstairs and offered to swap with her mother who replied "I am quite happy thankyou you enjoy UC" but the tone of the comment was not good:D

As I have said before VS are very cunning and I am sure that they have a cunning plan to show customers what UC or PE is like to get them hooked, it worked with me.

In the first six flights i ever took with VS we were upgraded three times

LHR-JFK Y No upgrade 4 PAX FC red
JFK-LHR Y Upgrade to PE 4 PAX FC red
LGW-ANU PE No upgrade 4 PAX FC red
ANU-LGW PE No upgrade 4 PAX FC red
LGW-ANU PE upgrade to UC 6 PAX FC silver
ANU-LGW PE upgrade to UC 4 PAX FC silver

I think I have been very lucky but VS have got me hook line and sinker:D

Right well i`ll be using you to book my next set of flights as you seem to have the golden touch.

never been upgraded even with Silver FC card let alone as Red card holder

So most of you were upgraded to UC because PE was over-booked, more likely than not?

Once, our family of 5 was booked in Y from LGW - MIA and we were bumped off the flight and rerouted in UC via MCO. So that's a double-upgrade for 5:D

I've never been upgraded straightforward, but a couple of times I've bought upgrades to J with miles and the miles were never deducted from the account.

How did you buy the upgrade? At the airport? Flying Club?
