Have I read things correctly on the BA website...

If we have a household account and I name my 8-year-old on it, she will get an exec blub account and earn miles on qualifying flights?

If true, I'm beginning to wonder whether the BA scheme makes more sense than the VS one for a family doing leisure travel 3 or 4 or 5 times a year...

Also, can't find quick guide to the tier point system in exec club, anyone summarise for me, or point me to the right link?

Thanks!

This issue is starting to gain more support, VS's stance on this will start to lose custom, the impact being substantial for premium leisure flyers such as ourselves. We for one are seriously contemplating a switch once miles accounts are bottomed out, as we are unlikely to hit Gold without a specific push and have served Silver for numerous years. The impact of no miles on a child seat is IMHO disgraceful & seriously offensive for repeat custom..Especially (as is my personal campaign) they will give you miles for putting your pet in the hold! v( v(
As VS routes and possible code shares seem to have stalled in terms of expansion, the lure of BA & *A begins to look more & more tempting, to allow travel to for example: South America/ Canada/Thailand etc- areas where VS's current structure are void. This combined with no miles for Mini, no family accounts, Vouchers/upgrades useable on hefty rates if there is a north wind blowing on the 3rd thursday of every 2nd month....

In respect of tier points, a start point:

Thanks for the reply, NH.

I haven't yet got an Exec Club account, which is why your link probably doesn't work - I can easily sort that though, when I have the patience to do it!

It's interesting to note, though, that I am apparently not the only loyal VS customer to start having forbidden thoughts...

Interested in other viewpoints though - anyone?

The four of us are flying to LA with BA this coming April on the basis of price alone (roughly 500-600 pounds cheaper for exactly the same package than through VH).

I joined the exec club and after that joined the whole family so my 8 & 9 yr old are now part of a household account ....So yes it can be done!
