Hi all, we 're all packed and ready for VS19 tomorrow, really excited! We've used OLCI but just wanted to check if it is OK to still use the UC check-in to drop off our bags & collect boarding passes? From what I have read there is often a lengthy queue at Fast Bag Drop so UC check-in makes better sense to me. Just wanted to check as I read in Daisy's recent trip report that the UC check-in agent who served her seemed a little annoyed that she hadn’t gone to the fast bag drop.

Guidance appreciated,

James

Yup! I did it myself earlier this year when I flew on the VS19 with a shortish connection from ORK

I read Daisy's TR and noted her comments. All I can say is, we did exactly the same a few weeks ago (both ways) without a problem. Our bags were tagged with UC labels and were among the first off the plane on each flight.

Have a great trip.

Thanks Nick & Honeylamb, this board is great - an answer to a question is always a matter of minutes away :)

I too had the same easy service! Would highly recommend this. Secure your seat and you are still able to use UC Check-In!

I'm sure its always OK to use the UC check in to drop off your bags - our check in person could just have had a bad morning [?] Although she didn't label the bags, they still came off first so I'd definately do it again [8D]

Hope you have/had a good flight!

Have now used OLCI and the UC check-in on my LHR-SFO and SFO-LHR flights and there was no problem with either. I thiknk VS have to accept that UC pax will want to do this if there is a line at the bag drop off point.

I presume it is the same for PE? As in if the PE check in line is shorter than the fast bag drop you can still use that line if you have completed OLCI.

Last time I was in T3, the UC desk had a queue of over 30 people, and the bag-drop was empty! Fortunately OLCI'd, so a speedy 'drop' and off t'Clubhouse...

Just go where there is no queue. There is no rule saying you have to go to fast bag drop. You can go to Y, W or J if you're travelling in these classes. Checking yourself in on line makes no difference to anything. Like i've said before it saves maybe 30 seconds at the check in desk, that's all!

We were flying PE on 27th June & used OLCI, it's great. When we arrived at T3, there were queues at UC,PE & EC. There weren't any queues at 'bag drop'so it took us no time at all. I would take care when using 'bag drop', make sure you don't confuse it with 'DIY check-in'. Safe flight. Roxy-Popsy.

Should be no problem.

I always use OLCI to ensure (!) seat selection then drop the bags off with a smiley check in agent rather than fast drop.
