Different types of seats?

Obviously in upper there is either UCS or J2000 seats. However, what about PE and Econ? I have seen pictures on here with some very 'modern' looking seats. Are these v.port seats? Also, how common are they? are they just as common as UCS or more rare.

Really sorry if the question has been answered before as im try not to get a third consecutive topic started blocked.

There are different EC and PE seats, although I don't know if they have any names for them. I beleive with these two classes, each IFE system has a different seat that goes with it. Don't quote me on that. But I am positive that there are at least two different versions of PE and EC seats floating around.

On V:Port flights, the PE seat is the more modern looking seats, the "older style" seats are on other flights.

there is a twist however, as on the LGW based B744 fleet (VROM/VROY/VROS/VGAL/VLIP.VTOP & VAST) the "older" seats are upstairs, and the "newer" seats are downstairs. And none of the LGW fleet has V:Port.

On all the A/C that have V:Port (that's all the A346's and all-but-one of the LHR B744) the seats in W and Y and indeed the new style seats. (Wash is the name of the new style PE seat and Kash is the name of the new econ seat) These seats are specially designed to take the rather large TV screens that V:Port uses. The other main difference is that on the new Kash seat the table folds in half once it is retracted back into the seat in front of you.

Now just to complicate things the LGW B744's have the old style PE seats upstairs but the new Wash PE seats on the main deck despite these A/C not having V:Port.

Just to add a new twist to the tale!! I was recently on VGAL going to vegas and noticed that some of the PE seats upstairs had been replaced by new leather ones. I know in the future VS are planning on updating PE but just wondered where these leather PE seats had come from? Anyone any ideas?

The new PE seats on the LGW B744 A/C are completly brand new as before the A/C were fitted with UCS there were never any PE seats on the main deck as they were all on the upper deck.

thanks for all the replies. Are the new style "wash" seats smaller width wise than the older ones? it just looks that way from mitchja pics.

I have not sat in these seats yet but other V-Flyers do say they certainly do seem narrower. Wheather they actually are I'm not sure. Sat in both style PE seats I like both of these. I actually prefer the new PE seat (but many other V-Flyers dont)

I knew VS installed new PE seats on the main deck but i was intrigued to see what looked like the old style PE seats in purple leather on the upper deck of VGAL. The upper cabin had about 6 or so of these seats mixed in with the other fabric PE seats. I thought all PE seats were usually made with a fabric material. Just wondered if anyone knew where these leather seats had come from?

The seats you've seen on G-VGAL are not new seats. They are the "old" style PE seats with a leather seat cover. It is part of a trial before changes are rolled out across the fleet.

If you get the choice go for the old style PE seat it's far more comfortable and has more leg room.

I generally dislike leather seats - in cars certainly. But on short-haul BA flights, the nice blue soft leather seats are actually quite comfy.

Hmm... I dislike leather seats in aircraft somehow, unless they are that beige corporate jet leather. I like leather in cars. Somehow, dark leather seats on aircraft somehow look slightly cheap to me.. But they are quite comfy.

With the Fleet constantly being updated and improvements being made there are several types of seat and Entertainment here is a simple guide..

LHR B744 some AC have newer seats in PE (G-VWOW 'Cosmic Girl' ,G-VROC 'Mustang Sally') With laptop power

G-VFAB/G-VBIG/G-VHOT/G-VWOW/G-VROC have V-port entertainment
G-VXLG has Odyssey

LGW B744 All AC have old/standard PE seats on Upper deck and New PE on Main deck (except G-VTOP 'Virginia Plain' and G-VAST 'Ladybird' which have old/standard PE on Main deck
No seats have laptop power at present

Entertainment is Nova except G-VAST/V-TOP which are Odyssey
----------------------
A343 All AC have old/standard PE seat - No laptop power
entertainment is Odyssey or Arcadia

G-VAEL/G-VFLY/G-VSUN = Arcadia
G-VAIR/G-VELD/G-VFAR/GVSEA/G-VHOL = Odyssey
----------------------------
A346 All have New PE seat with Laptop power and all have new Economy seat
all A346 have v-port entertainment

V-PORT and Odyssey systems have telephone built in at seat (currently $4.95 USD per min)

Other systems have bulkhead mounted telephones same price
