Upper Class Hell?

Saw this in this morn's Telegraph.

Considering recent v-flyer trip reports and criticisms of penny-pinching in UC, it seems a pretty risky marketing venture to me...

Won't be entering that competition for two reasons - don't pay for J or D tickets and haven't flown any other airlines bus class.

I've registered, but in fairness, the only comparison of full J I have to use is my Air Canada trips every other month.

Given that comparison, VS win hands down... [V];)

Read the T&C's - you cant enter if you have ever flown Virgin Upper before - thats surely going to rule out an awful lot of people on its own. Oh well, i was looking forward to the trip to the Cayman's, thought i had it in the bag![V]

Should work for them then, should it not. If you've never experienced the truly great food of yesteryear - or satin cushions, flowers on bar etc. - then you won't really miss it will you?

The T+Cs seem to favour VS, plus the usual VS decision is final condition leads me to think that someone would need to be very lucky to achieve this.

It also talks about a combination of products including things like the bar etc which when you look at it on paper means VS will win hands down I think.

Be interesting to see if someone does win, and what will happen if they do? Would anyone find out about if there was a winner anyway???

I noticed that advert in the times today... had a feeling it might pop up on this site!

Plus as this offer is only valid on J & D which comes with a limo surely they may claim something like:
"Yes, we admit our catering is pretty poor at the moment but in out opionion you limo ride more than compensated for this"

Emirates gives you a limo for a business class fare... apparently the foods better on board too.

It appears that the comparison is massively stacked in VS' favour, certainly in respect of the VS "extras" that other airlines don't/can't/won't offer.

So, in that sense, it's just the UC vs. everyone else "tick list" recycled.

It doesn't say "Were the food choices acceptable?", "Was the food edible?", "Was the cabin properly cleaned?", "Was the aircraft on time?" - you know the really important things.

Oh well...

Ok, that must surely go down as one of the best in-flight services offered! Oooh maybe VS should get Jo 'Supernanny' Frost or the Dr from BBC 3's Little Angels in for a few months!

Having looked at those pages, may have to add Gulf Air to my list of wouldn't mind trying out.

Impressed!! Something VS should certainly think about on the B&S routes - great idea.

Particularly like:

"a Sky Nanny will be on hand to escort you to a dedicated seating area in the aircraft." - All kids in one area?
"Arranging convenient dining times for the children to leave you free to enjoy your own meals"

Hmm, more I look at the advertising and consider this I wonder just who the campaign is supposed to impress. I find the 'you can go to hell bit' a little unadvised and the general tone to be uncomfortable. Probably me, but I think it's a bit of an own goal campaign - and where's the humour that's such a keymark of good Virgin ads of the past!

Yeah, but just how flipping far away the TV is. My eyesite is pretty good but I think I would struggle with that after an 8 hour flight.

By defining the rules to only make comparisons with their unique selling points, they're making it very tricky to do a proper evaluation.

However, if you're on a flight were the IFBT is having the day off (it happens), and the Freedom Menu isn't offered immeadiately (GNF?), and compare that to an airline like Gulf or Emirates, you might be in with a fighting chance. Perhaps if you lived outside Virgin's free limo zone, or they were just having a really bad day.

Ok, I give in. Given the rules, it would appear to be practically impossible to make a claim.
