BA domestic flights all offer 1 x 23Kg free checked baggage allowance. You can then pay for exrta bags and/or weight upto 32Kg per bag (it's cheaper if you pay for extra bags during OLCI):

World Traveller
Euro Traveller
Domestic
One bag** 23kg free
(up to 32kg at £40/US$60*)

I wouldn't worry about the weight too much as I recently got away with my checked bag weighing 26Kg after connecting off a VS J flight at LGW last month. Coming back, leave the VS bags tags on so they can see you have come off an international flight.

Booked separately. In fact, I was flying down to LGW the day before my VS flight.

Hi 15isto2

Do this ba/vs thing many times - a bit of a pain especially when travelling in upper with ba's baggage allowance. ( unless you book an expensive ticket from vs )

The hand luggage thing is pretty good as if your case is overweight you could stuff a bit in your hand luggage

As mitchja says they are not too bad at ba's check in and are usually ok with a kg or 2. Infact if it's more than that just offer to pay ( with a smile ) and you sometimes get away with it ;)

On the plus side, the shuttle times have changed lgw to edi and the horrendous wait after you arrive into lgw is now a little shorter.

Enjoy your trip :P

Thanks David,

I am flying UC with VS and booked a through ticket with them but apparantly I only get the standard 23kg allowance on BA which is quite annoying as I have a busisness fair code on my BA flights but no exptr benefit for the extra cost :(! I do hope that they will check my bags through form MCO to EDI (as happened on MCO to GLA last year)

If you have a throughout ticket ie mco to lgw to edi ticketed by vs, then you should get your bags checked directly through to edi at mco.

In doing this, you shouldnt have to worry about the 23kg on your shuttle flight because your bag will be automatically transferred at lgw.

Always worth checking at the gate in lgw to make sure your bags are on board.

VS / BA used to do this without any questions but their interline agreement finished. It made transfers at lgw a doddle.

Of course if gla had more upper flights and a clubhouse ;) life would be so much easier :)
