Could be picking at straws here but how the hell do they know your a V-flyer??

The only thing I can think of is the bit on V-flyer where you input your FC number and it then gets your FC staus presumably from the Virgin servers, are they picking it up from there?

Pix any ideas?

Maybe they have someone trawling the sites making notes.......ooooooh very MI5...[}:)]

If would make sense. I always mention V-Flyer and hand out a card.

I doubt that this VF.com is transferring FC numbers to VA.com - the mods and pix here seem fiercely protective of VF.com's independance and would therefore refuse this info.

However there is nothing to stop VS tieing you up from your username (if it is the same on both sites). Or they could be trawling back to your true name if you gave it when signing up on this site. They could also be making a record of your VF membership in their FC records if for any reason they got to know - perhaps you bringing it up in conversation for example.

However this is all supposition. Perhaps a staffer might like to comment on what info VS is holding (unlikely) or of course one of us could invest a tenner or so and ask for a dataprotection record.....

You don't use your flashy v-flyer luggage tags? :D

Sorry I was a bit unclear, I didn't mean that V-flyer were giving the numbers to VS, just perhaps VS were plucking the info from the requests made from V-Flyer. (Sorry I seem to have confused myself here....)

Regards to my flashy V-flyer tags Sky, I am trying to get enough (useful) posts to get a silver kit to match my silver card, unless of course hard currency can make up a couple of hundred posts;)

Keep posting! I am aiming for my gold kit to come in at the same time as I hit VS Au in October, just another 100 posts to go or so :D.

Just to reassure folks, there's no information exchange between V-F and VS (though the ad banners probably have click-through details).

Not forgetting that VS staff read these fora (just for you Decker :D), I'd hazard a guess of at least 3 possible reasons VS could know you're a V-Flyer:
i) Your V-F profile (mine has my real name on it)
ii) Trip Reports (should imagine it's pretty easy to match up seat numbers, routes & names)
iii) Mentioning V-F when dealing with VS (before, during or after flights)

;)

Cheers

I doubt whether VS actually proactively associate V-Flyers with their FC account, although I wouldn't be surprised if my own records at Virgin made mention of V-Flyer. On my last trip through the Drive-Thru check in, the agent clearly knew who I was - which was quite unexpected.

I have messages like this regularly ;)

But then its not hard to work out my name from my V-Flyer or FT handle. There is a system in-house that staff can use to add special instructions or messages to all staff involved with the booking, from check-in to crew.

Thanks,
Richard

P.S Hello from Singapore :)

Oh come on Richard don't be so coy I've seen the treatment you get in the CH!

Cheers, Howard
