Claiming my g/f's miles?

My girlfriend and I (now finance) have just returned from a holiday with Virgin to the west coast of America. We flew Economy from LHR to LAX and then Economy from SFO to LAX.

I am a member of flying club so I got my miles credited to me for the trip but I remember reading somwhere about claiming partner miles? I may have misread this as the "partner" airlines but I was wondered is there a way I can get my girlfriends miles added to my account so we can pool our points into one account as we always travel together.

Unless FC make a mistake, it is not normally possible. It IS possible, however, to book reward flights by using either a 50/50 or 75/25 split from two accounts.

This only applies to flights/upgrades - not other partner redemptions, but might help in your case...?

Pretty sure you can't do this.

But get your girlfriend to sign up to flying club and
she can claim the miles provided it was an eligible fare.

You didn't misread it - "partner" in this case does indeed refer to partner airlines. Unfortunately, you can't claim miles from your girlfriend's/partner's/etc... flights and have them added into your account - they need to have a separate FC account for their mileage collecting activities (unless your partner's under 18 and you're a Gold FC member, in which case you can have a Family account ). Like Paul says above, you can use the miles from 2 accounts to get reward flights, but only in certain splits.
