Our flight was eventually called and again boarding was remarkably fast and efficient.
We didn’t want anything at all to drink on boarding, although I spoke to the F&B Manager and explained I’d missed the Meze on the LHR flight and she promised to keep one back and serve me on later. Again I had an A seat, though a little further back. This time I settled down to sleep – and sleep I did for quite some time. I woke after about 3 hours and asked for my Meze which I had with the lemon and mint drink – oh my word I was so glad I’d asked for one to be set aside as it was just my sort of meal.
I have to say here and now, the standards set by each and every crew member we met on all 4 Etihad flights, was excellent. Friendly and extremely efficient, without any familiarity and never, ever, a sigh or roll of the eyes. Again the toilets were kept pristine – though no window this time. I do like the window in the toilets as it makes them feel much larger and less confined.
I played games and did crosswords on the IFE for the rest of the flight and occasionally jumped to watch the forward facing and downward facing cameras. One point here, although it was switched off for the take-off itself, and the safety briefing obviously, the entire IFE was on from gate to gate. That was great.
Eventually we arrived at BKK and after a lengthy walk and a very slight delay at Immigration because the priority lane hadn’t yet opened, we collected our bags which were one of the first dozen off and were ready to check-in for our Thai domestic flight down to Krabi. And our son was due in from Ho Chi Minh City in a couple of hours – to say I was excited would be the understatement of the century!
Next leg later….
