This is the second leg of my flight to Tripoli. If you'd like to read more see my blog post on the BPPA blog: http://thebppa.wordpress.com/2012/02/28 ... rom-libya/

For the first leg, see here: http://v-flyer.com/forum/index.php?f=21 ... =viewtopic

After going through transfers me and the other three travelers I was talking to before the flight decided to meet up for breakfast. We met up at the gate G9, where my flight from Tripoli was scheduled to leave in a few hours. We realized we had no Egpytian pounds so we asked one of the security officals where the currency exchange post passport control is. Answer: there isn't one. But you could just walk through passport control change your money and come back. So a bit hestantly, we did, to the land side by the checkin desks, and technically into Egypt. We changed our money, and walked back through the back channel they let us through going out.

We found a restaurant and ordered breakfast, taking the time to charge our phones and use the free wifi. Breakfast was not good at all - worst excuse for a full English I've ever had. :(! It cost the equivalent of £5, but probably wasn't even worth that.

We bid farewell and made our way to our respective gates and flights. The gate opened at 07:55 and I was in pretty quickly, even with the additional security screening. Boarding was called at 08:05 and I was at my seat very quickly. This plane was even worse than the one that took me from London!!! Dirty, ratty, falling apart.

Pushback was at 08:31 with takeoff at 08:39.

Breakfast was served at 09:30 and was also just as poor as the plane was ratty. It was an omelette, sausage, potato, mushroom, yoghurt, a roll, croissant, and cheese. Besides the potato, yoghurt, bread and cheese, it was inedible.

I went to sleep for a bit which was much needed.

We began our decent 30min out, landing at 12:00 on the dot, but 20min late. No queue for passport control or customs and was through in 1 minute. There was no digital reader for passports, they just check your visa matches our name and off you go!

I was at baggage reclaim by 12:18 but waited almost 30minutes for my bag. There were very few baggage handlers and one sniffer dog going over every bag, so it took quite a while. Through yet another x-ray machine, where I got pulled aside for a bag search. They dug through my camera bag for a bit and then said ok. Security always like to look though it as high quality camera lenses have a coating on them which show up black on the x-ray, so the man checking can't see through it. Once that was over I was on my way to the hotel in a very old Mercedes estate generously driven by the man I met on the flight from London who was returning for the first time in 30 years!
