Pre-flight
The Budapest flight now goes from Terminal 3 - always odd as I associate this with VS rather than BA. Check in agent very friendly and cheerful - bags dropped off quickly and off to fast track security which was relatively ok this afternoon. Through the terminal to the lounge - thought about trying a different one world lounge but not much time and thought would stick to the BA lounge. Relatively quiet in here today. Settled myself into the work station area as had a few work e-mails to catch up on. Not much time to spend in here - some diet coke and nibbles. Flight called to the usual bus gate nightmare that is BA terminal 3 - wish the had proper gates like other airlines at T3. Managed to get onto the first bus out!
The flight
I had taken the advantage of a cheapest upgrade on this portion of my trip. I had got 1A and luckily 1C was free so had plenty of space to myself. Left on time and a shortish taxi and off we headed. Shortly after take-off came the hot towels and then a drinks round. Usual champagne and th e "Club World" nuts - now they give them out on short haul they ma have to redo the packaging. Lunch then followed - stuffed chicken with leaks and potatoes or a cod dish. I had the chicken, and it came with lots and lots of leaks. The chicken was tasty and went well with a second champagne!the have scaled bag the lunch as there is no won dessert and only one piece of cheese - odd but the main hot dish was pretty filling. The cod also looked really good as well. After dinner the purser came round with post-dinner drinks - he had a tray with whiskey,baileys, brandy and a mother spirit and ice/non-ice glasses. Really well done and tempted me to have a whiskey - in club Europe they have glenlivet 15 year old which was really nice indeed! Settled into to doing some work after lunch with my computer on my table and my iPad on 1C to entertain me. Flight passed quickly and crew were around and about for extra drinks throughout the flight.
Arrival
Short taxi after landing and off plane, through immigration and off to pick bag up and then into Budapest.
Overall
1. Love the Hitlon Terminal 5 - really recommend it
2. Great crew and attentive service throughout - loved the post- dinner drinks service
3. Obviously BA is scaling back food options on short haul in club Europe - althought the quality of the main dish was much better (less but better quality!)
