EasyJet to Move To Allocated Seating...

..from November...

"Here’s how the process will work in a nutshell: All passengers will be automatically allocated a seat. If you wish to select a specific seat, the fee will be:

£12 for an extra legroom seat (i.e. exit row seat)
£8 for a seat in the first 6 rows of the aircraft
£3 for any other seat"

They are also retaining Speedy Boarding, presumably recognising that securing a seat does not mean securing space in an overhead locker and that an income stream can be retained...

Makes BA short-haul pretty much impossible to justify IMO, unless you're desperate for Avois/TPs.

Premier assured me last week that there are NO plans to do so at the present time (note the use of the word present). This was after (yet again) that they had tried to tell me that the fuel surcharge was a tax....."oh no it isn't" ...."err OK it's not" ! so I'm not entirely convinced........
