I have read on previous posts that flying club miles can be combined with another member of your family on either a 50/50 or 75/25 basis. However, when I phoned them I was told it was only possible on a 50/50 basis. Is there anywhere in black and white where it says a 75/25 split is possible? Many thanks for any replies.

Hi PS100

As I understand it you have to pay for an entire person/sector from single account. For a single person this means 50/50. Of course if there were two people this would allow a 25/75 split.

Thanks for the quick reply Phil and I'm sorry if I sound a bit stupid but does that mean if I have 70 miles and my son only has 10 that I cannot use 40 of my miles to upgrade myself from PE to UC and then use the remaining 30 of mine and add them to his 10 to upgrade him - i.e. using 20 to upgrade him one way and then a 50/50 split for return?

All of the miles to upgrade a sector have to come from the same account. So imagine it was 20K for each of you for each leg. In the case you outline you could upgrade BOTH of your legs (20+20) and one of his (20) leaving 10 in both. If you were a Gold Card holder you would have more flexibility with this.

Thanks for that - I understand now.

I would guess that this is simply a case of "Computer says NO". They have no way of doing it other than via tedious manual adjustments involving senior security cleared personnel.
