Can one purchase a membership to the Clubhouse? Can one purchase a yearly gold card?

If not what does it take other than flying UC or the Gold Card to get an invite to the lounges?

We fly to London 3-4 times a year on economy (bargain fares)

Yes - it costs between $10,000 and $30,000 per year, and comes with 4 free Upper Class flights... ;)

Seriously, though, it's not an option to buy into the CH. There are other ways, when flying PE, however (although these are predominantly for London).

1) Is through FlyingCo. vouchers, if you work for a company that is enrolled into it.

2) Is what several other members here use - the Amex Centurion card link with VS (if you have their card, you can get in when flying with VS in any class)

3) Is to buy entry with Virgin Holidays (This will be your most likely option, at a guess). The good news is, it's possible. The bad news is it's 65 quid per person, per visit (from memory) if you wish to use it. That is only valid, however, for the London Clubhouses.

I have a feeling you may be out of luck with the US stations... [:#]

So if you have a Centurion card you can get into the club house even if your flying in PE or even coach..though what your doing in coach or PE if you have a black card is another question,I would of thought you would be in UC making the whole thing mute.

Not sure but I think it maybe only UK issued cent card that get access to the clubhouse and no guest.

Oh ok,thanks,guess i'll just stick with my Plat,the black card is nice enough,but to be honest for me there are very little benefits in having it plus unless you get a corp one the fee is just way to off putting for me.Of course this has all been talked about in length on another forum

You can buy CH access for LHR or LGW though, through Virgin Holidays. I'd prefer to be able to buy lounge access in JFK though, on the return trip, as that's when I need the comfy seats and the booze [:p]

Thanks everyone for your response. I really appreciate it. To the person who is interested in the JFK lounge, it is no big deal. Very little amenities other than the food. There is no massage, no shower etc. A lot of hype for very little.
If you can, stick with the Heathrow Lounge it is great and the new design is interesting besides which the trip from LHR to JFK is longer than the other way so a massage is nice.

Do any of you know when Virgin is moving out of Connecticut and to where they are moving? Do you know if their PR people and their customer service people are being transferred or will they too lose their jobs and their jobs be outsourced?

Does anyone know who the head of Virgin America is going to be and where it will be based and when it may start up. Have they put people into place for it yet?

There is no massage, no shower etc.

Er, there is a shower. My son had one on each of the occasions we were there.

(How come he will shower the minute that we get into a Clubhouse but I have to nag him at home? [:w])

I think the secret of what is in the men's showers at the CH, that sooo encourages us to dive in there when we arrive, is best kept between us men. Sorry HL, its a boy thing and ask as you might I cannot say a word more on a public forum:D[}:)]

I don't think they are moving out of Connecticut, just moving out of Norwalk. They currently own their office campus in Norwalk, and can't actually fill it with staff. In addition, VS aren't really property managers, they are an airline.

They want to sell the current office campus, thus capitalising the asset, and move into rented office accomodation nearby, I think in Stamford, CT.

(One of the criteria, as they weren't having any serious layoffs, was to find a new location relatively close by.)

Virgin America is an interesting one. There are now rumours that SRB will cherry-pick the good bits of FlyI. [|:)]

Whether there will be some integration between Virgin America and VS remains to be seen. I guess it may be complicated, given the different ownership the two airlines will have.

Each of these questions really relates to an entirely different subject in it's own right. It would be useful to put them in their own topics, as unique threads - that way things are easy to find, and you'll likely receive more relevant responses... ;)
