Hello all from the LHR Clubhouse. I was surprised when I entered as it is different from what I envisaged and even to the pictures I have seen. There is a lot more dark wood around that I expected. Sections are split down nice and although the airport is very busy, the lounge is surprisingly quiet.

Mrs B and I have been fed and watered and are just off to the 'spa' for our treatments.

See you all soon

Hi Paul,

Are you using the pay-per-use t-mobile network, or are you on one of the 'net terminals?

(I'd stay away from that hot tub, too... [:p])

I had a terrible time with the T-Mobile hotspot last time I was in the LHR CH, and when I phoned T-Mobile, they gave me another 1 hr voucher with no quibbling.

Cheers,

Now back from my trip, sorry I missed some of your questions, but to answer you Paul, I was using one of the net terminals in the funny sloping side glass panelled room that I kept knocking my head on.

Thought I would give some more feedback. Lounge was really very good. It did start to get busy later in the evening with a lot of people waiting for the Jo'burg flight. Both Mrs B and I enjoyed our SPA sessions, but when I booked over the phone for my (Rhinestone Cowboy) I was led to believe the shave was a cut-throat shave, which turned out to be a 'Mach 3' shave and not a very close one at that (I was wondering about the security issues of a cut-throat razor air-side!) and the robes they ask you to don are ridiculously small, but the massage was fantastic. Didn't get a chance to get into the hot tub, maybe next time.

The gallery is in what seems to be a smoking section, which is strange as I now thought a law had been passed banning smoking in public places where food is served.

Food and drink choice is good and all in all I think this is by far the best lounge I have experienced. Looking forward to the next visit and even more to when phase 2 opens.

Wouldn't it be excluded from the restriction anyway - It's a sort of "private member's club"...?

Also it is an airport. You could not freely move outside as if you were in a bar, etc.

I could imagine re-entering the UK just to smoke; but not an issue for me.

Have you not seen Tampa Airport. It is now illegal to smoke in public places inside in Florida (I think that is the actual law, it maybe something a little more vague). So to get around this there is a door leading outside into a cage, where all the non-smokers can stand and point at the smokers outside in the cold!
