I believe G-VHOL is still in DUB getting UCS. The A343's seem to take around 4 weeks to get re-fitted so she should be due back any day now.

G-VHOL got back the other day from memory. Can't remember now. The UCS refit is outsourced as we don't have the facilities to do that kind of work. We have 1 hangar at present, there is no way you could block that up for 4 weeks, there are too many regular checks to complete on the rest of the fleet.

Whilst on the subject of UCS and the A343's....

Does anyone have any news yet as to if the 4 Arcadia A343's are getting UCS or are they to be replaced with new A346's (which I believe 6 are due for delivery in 2006)?

Regards

Even before the refits I saw VS planes at DUB. I can still remember my surprise when I saw a 343 taxiing in [:0] while I was waiting my flight to ORK. In fact I was there on Wednesday and was looking out as I felt one was due to return any time now

I believe the 747s were refitted in DUB also

I can't remember what it is currently called. It used to be Team Aer Lingus but has gone through several metamorphoses. I spent the best part of Wednesday sitting in a room which looked directly on to the place where the refits take place (and I was facing the window) but for the life of me I cannot remember the name that was there! Was FLS Aerospace for a while. It's now SR Technics Ireland.

(SR Technics is what used to be Swissair's Technical and Engineering arm.)

Yup! That's it. [y] I could remember FLS Aerospace but not the latest one even though I spent the day looking at it! [:0]

From memory, VS does lots of maintenance in AMS, and has also used SIN (for A343's) before.

When the "Alitalia" LGW 744's entered the VS fleet brand new from Boeing, they were fitted out in New Zealand.

The A346's, when delivered new, are fitted out with UCS by an independent firm (not airbus) in Toulouse.

So there's been lots going on in lots of places!! :)

YEs I have heard of the shock most spotters had in NZ when a B744 from VS rocked up! Can you imagine- i think they were fitted at CHC though could be wrong.

G-VSEA departed Heathrow for Dublin last night, presumably for its suite refit, which now just leaves 3 Arcadia a/c left without suites.
