Such things, i imagine, are kept very closely guarded secrets by the marketing guys. Don't want the opposition getting one up / matching offer until at least a day after its started.

I guess there are a few things wrapped into this:

1) The new "flying club alerts" widget (I know it's not a real widget, as it's only for PC's) can give you a heads-up if there are any.

2) They've only just finished the crazy-priced Upper Class promo - £1,200 to SFO in Upper is more valuable to me than 10,000 miles (not sure about others though...)

3) The other "one to watch" would be BA.com - they jump, VS follow ;) but as fozzyo points out, they'll keep it closely guarded if there is anything until the day of launch.

Personally, I'd expect something around 5th Jan, but there's no evidence behind that whatsoever - just a feeling...

There's a few sales on right now, so it looks like VS is after the money rather than help us rack up miles...

I noticed that AA has launched an aggressive fare sale (I think Monday was the date it started) to their LHR market. I just booked 3 flights RT from San Diego (through LAX) for about $550 each. The LAX ones were a little bit cheaper...so I am assuming VS will be responding shortly. Keep your eyes peeled, and please post anything you hear here...I have a ticket in February I haven't purchased yet because the cheapest on AA was $770 for that month, oddly enough.
They actually "responded" by getting there first ;)

They've been offering LAX for $508 incl. since Christmas. Link here.

You'll also find there is a US Upper Class fare sale on right now, too, but you need to book by Tuesday.
