Hi guys, Firstly Merry Christmas to you all!!
And secondly I need your assitance,
I will be arriving at heathrow T1 (Via BMI) and I need to get to T3 for V.Atlantic flight.

I have not had to transfer terminal before and was wondering how easy it is and how quickly the transfer would be (It will be around 10 AM).

Have any of you made this transfer ??

Thank again,
And Merry Christmas Again!

Hi, Jamiec, and welcome to VFlyer.
When I was last transferring at Heathrow I was instructed to follow the connecting passengers signage. We traveled between terminals (we were heading to BMI from Virgin, the opposite of your intended journey) on convenient busses that stop on the field level just outside a stairway that takes you directly into the connecting terminal.

Hi Jamie

I do this transfer quite a lot. I dont check though my bags and so have to collect them at LHR T1 before walking to T3. From getting off the BD flight to reaching T3 usually takes me between 40 and 60 mins (including waiting for bags).

If you are collecting your bags at LHR it's a pretty easy walk from T1 to T3 using the under-ground walkways. It does get quite busy especially as you reach T3. The good thing is though, the under-ground terminal transfer walk brings you right to VS check-in area in T3.

If you do check through your bags, you get bused from T1 to T3, although it's not a lot quicker and you enter T3 air-side not land-side which can be a pain as there's only 1 VS transfer desk.

I now really dont like connecting from a BD flight to a VS flight on the same day after a mare of a connection a few years ago. Basically the BD flight was over 90 mins late getting onto LHR from MAN and I finally checked in for a 11:00am VS19 flight at 10:20 (this was before the VS 1 hour check-in close) I then had to run from VS check-in to the gate [:0]

If your luggage is checked through to your destination you can follow the signs for the Flight Connection Centre from T1 which will, after a longish walk, take you by bus to T3. During this time you will remain airside and so will only go through security at the T1 end just as you get to the FCC.

Alternatively you can take the underground subway to T3 by following the signs to the tube and then to T3 Departures. This brings you up by the VS check-in area in T3

I've done both and I don't think there is a massive difference in time for either one. I reckon it takes about 30 minutes from plane (in T1) to security in T3

Thanks, Doesnt sound too bad, I once had a bad terminal-to-terminal transfer at paris CDG and have been a little troubled by them ever since.
Hopefully this will be no problem.

Thanks, as always, for the quick replys.
