Evening all,
Going over my bookings for my upcoming flight out of LGW on the 14th March, I check my hotel booking at the Hilton. It would appear that the executive lounge is closed on the 13th & 14th March for refurbishment with no other arrangements made to cater for guests staying in the executive rooms. :(!

I made an advanced purchase of an executive room, this is not refundable. Hilton are saying that there is no other arrangements for guests. This information was not on the Hilton website yesterday so it would appear that the management have made the decision to close and refurb with only 10 days notice.

It's a shame that Hilton will not allow me to cancel the booking so I can stay over in the Sofitel and that it is only providing it's guests only 10 days notice of the closure. I can't think of any other benefit of staying in an executive room without access to the lounge, it certainly wouldn't justify the extra £40.

Hope this isn't effecting anyone else this next weekend.

I am really surprised if Hilton are not offering some sort of alternative. Have you actually spoken to someone at the hotel ? Perhaps, like Flying Club, if you have and then try again , another person will give a different answer !!!

Absolutely would try and speak to someone else. Ask " what would they do in your situation?" that sometimes works for me. of course they can cancel a booking or at the very least compensate in some way, champagne and cheese and biscuits in room, vouchers, allowance towards next stay...... the list goes on.

as always in life it seems customers have to persevere ( politely) if something is plainly unjust. At some point someone, with the right training and attitude will step forward with the right resolution.

When this has happened to me at Hilton properties they have either offered vouchers or sectioned off an area of the bar.

There is a pop up note on the Hilton site today saying the lounge is closed and apologies for any inconvenience. They really should be offering some sort of compensation to those booked in Executive rooms for this.

During our stay at the Moscow Hilton, when the executive lounge closed we were sent to the main restaurant for breakfast, could get coffee from the bar at any time of day and given vouchers for food and drinks from the bar in the evening. We are staying at the LGW Hilton this Sunday I can make enquires for you and let you know.

Hilton have confirmed in an email that the lounge will be closed on the 13th but have said there will be an alternative area and that guests will be advised what this will be over the next few days. That's reassuring to know but unsure why they can't give any details today this all seems very sudden and a little unplanned.

Thanks for the offer Daffodil, I'm hoping they get back to me with more details very soon.

Hello,

I stayed there yesterday. There was a notice in the lounge saying it would be refurbished and guests can take afternoon tea, evening cocktails in Amy's bar/restaurant.

Also note, the hours have now been shortened from 18.00-21.00 to 18.30 to 20.30

Apologies if I don't have this 100% correct but I'm going from memory.
