Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I just noticed it. If you log into your FC account and go to "Manage your flights" and "Retrieve Booking", it now picks up your flights without having to type in your booking details.

I assume this is somehow linked to your FC account, and depends on you putting the number on the booking.

I seem to think that is the way it is always SUPPOSED to have worked [?]

I know it has worked like that for some of my flights in the past, but hoepfully - if they have updated the system - it will have ironed out some of the problems people have been having.

I find that flights i have booked directly from the VS website appear in "Manage your flights" when i am logged in, flights i have booked over the phone through Flying Club do not.

Not sure if thats the same for anyone else, but always something i have noticed personally.

Has anyone else noticed that you dont get quite as much information if you click on your flights after logging in.

On entering flight info manually you also see airport terminal information under the 'Flight Details' section at the top of the page.

Both flying club telephone bookings and internet bookings have always appeared on the "manage your flights" section for me.

Always been hit and miss for me. For example, my flight next month does not appear automatically although this is an ex-AMS booked on Expedia. Comes up OK on entering the booking ref.

I have two flights in the next few weeks, both booked online whilst logged in, neither of which are shown on the site without putting in the booking reference. Interestingly enough this has been the same for the last few flights and I have always had trouble getting miles posted to my account. It pains me to say it but although the VS web site looks good and usually seems to book flights fine, it really is very flakey when it comes to managing existing bookings.

I have been told my booking won`t show until 4th March when the E ticket is issued, even though I have paid in full. Has anyone else heard of this?

Hi Paul,

did you book directly with VS? If you did, is your flyingclub number in the booking? Usually you should be able to see your details online once booked (before ticketing) but there are some times/routes that this is not possible. If you booked with a travel agent, flights sometimes cannot be seen to be able to update or request seats. if you booked with Virgin Holidays, the booking may not have gone across to Virgin Atlantic's system yet. There are loads of possibilities, although normally, a ticketed booking, no matter how made, should show on the system for you to be able to request special meals etc on it.

hope that helps,

Juliet

Decker, did you try to find your details online using your FC number? or by booking reference?

That shouldn't make a difference, but you know how picky these machines are...[:w]

funny, that. Probably something to do with cookies, or whatever version your browser is...

as long as you can see your details, I suppose that is all tha matters.

I wonder if, because it's not a mileage earning fare, it's not linking properly with the Flying Club number? In the same way as an S/W->G upgrade reward doesn't automatically accrue miles, you have to "remind" VS to add them after the fact.

I've noticed when I've done a G upgrade in advance of a flight, the FC number disappears from the booking when viewed online (and you don't have an option to add/change FC number), but in that case it does stay linked to the account.

Cheers,
Mike

Yes, I am surprised this hasn't been discussed before. When you book a G fare they use a pseudo flying club number in part of the system (at least this was how it was explained to me as tend to travel quite a lot on mileage only fares and have asked the question previously). The same used to be the case with MpM but I am not so sure of that now.

So essentially the booking is NOT linked to your FC number. As I understand the reason for this was to stop people earning mileage of non rev tickets as the system from approx 5 years ago could not differentiate. I would hope that system updates since that time should now have rectified this, but you how things are.

Paul

editted to add that you will only see this on mileage trips in both directions only as if you pay for either leg then YOUR FC number is in the booking so you earn mileage on the bits you paid for.

When I upgraded my revenue PE flights to/from IAD last year with miles, I was able to still view my booking once I'd upgraded without having to enter anything manually.

VH bookings also wont show up with out entering your details manually either, despite having your FC number on these bookings. VS explained to me that this is because VS bookings that come from V Hols are 'built' differently.

Yes, that's exactly the case I'd described early - the booking stays linked, but if you look carefully, your FC Number disappears from the booking.

As there was never an FC number (unless it's this dummy number) linked to a mileage booking, it doesn't link in "manage your flights".

Cheers,
Mike
