Sure - done.

NYLON wrote:I'm not sure you can compare this site to Digg etc. There's very little (if any?) spam on v-flyer. It's not like there are hundreds of new topics per day, many of which are spurious (apart from mine)

Ah.. you found the reason for the feature ;-)

NYLON wrote:I do think the main Forum is cluttered by including the itineraries as 'standard' post topics. I think they should be filtered out when viewing the Forum by unread/new/active topics.

Actually, that was the way the old forum worked, so I'll put it on the (growing) to-do list.

I'm also not a fan of the dislike button, I feel it could potential cause bad feelings and conflict on the site.

I'm sure you are aware, but the aircraft database needs the 787's adding in to it and the seat maps on the first 2 A333's need updating.

I love the new look forum! Thanks for all your hard work, Pete. I like everything I've come across so far, I suppose the only exception would be the dislike button. If it's only used as intended (i.e. for reporting spam) then it's fine; but perhaps just a "report" button would suffice?

Thank you for all the hard work.

I am keen to know if we will ever get back those little planes under our names so we could instantly see where someone posting, say a Wave from the CH, is flying off to ?! Pretty please .

Yup - although I'm prioritising bugs first. But thanks for the heads up.

Brilliant stuff, Pete, thanks!

The dislike button is now history.

Now you can only 'like' posts.

Plus, got the new 'similar topics' feature working, so now at the bottom of each page you'll see any topics which are similar to this one.

Good work so far.
My only grip, like some others is a few of the colours.
I was just over on the Itineraries page and could not see the forward and back arrow to change the month until I really looked hard, they seem to blend in to the background.
Other than that a good upgrade.

Thank you. I really think that is a sensible decision.

Fantastic job Pete, thanks so much.

Another vote from me to have Status Updates brought back please, it's an incredibly useful feature :D
As others have also said, darker font please, the pale grey is hard on the eye.

Cheers

Still finding my way around but I do like what I see so far. Nice work Pete.

The Like/Dislike buttons seem a bit superfluous to me.. in the past people have posted their agreement or disagreement with a topic or post with a simple quote reply, and better still the act of replying encourages an anecdote/factoid or two to add more to the discussion. I vote to get rid of them both ;)

Oh and the IM feature.... I just tried to have a conversation with a Google Adsense [bot] - I received no reply

Wonderful, thanks Pete.

Just a note that in the Post Icon part of posts, bmi, US Airways and AirTran are still offered.

Would changing this affect older posts?

Personally I think the "Like" serves a purpose, which is a quick way of saying "Thanks" without cluttering a conversation with non informative messages.

It will also serve an additional (future) benefit that I'll be able to identify the useful posts and automatically post them to our social media pages.

We have a core group of visitors who spend a lot of time on here, but a large percentage who only dip in from time to time. I've been looking at ways that we can take the (important) posts to them to encourage engagement with a large number of our community. So if a post gets a lot of likes and isn't too long in the tooth, the idea is to post that up on Facebook/Twitter so people who follow the forum (but don't visit every day) can keep up to date on a platform they might use more often. It's all theory at the moment, but the 'Like' button gives me options.

Looks great, thanks for the great job.
I have two questions. I couldn't see 'new posts' when looking from my iphone - does that exist still - I can see it on my laptop?
Also I wrote a PM and hit send. However it is still sat in Outbox rather than having moved to Sent. I couldn't see an option to hit send from this stage? Should it have moved to Sent?
Thanks

On an iPhone, expand the menu then the down arrow on Advanced Search.

Haven't gotten around to the PM bug-fixing yet, but think that may be solved once I get the cron job set up.

Calendar arrow colours sorted. Forum content text colour set to black.

The status update / news ticker at the top of the page is now working. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey...

I'm still having problems with the grey background the black still looks to me more like a darker grey against a light grey background.

Needs a bit more contrast please !
