Hi there,

Im new here and have a couple of questions you might be able to help me with.
I am danish and planning a trip later this year in connection with going to the states as an exchange student. I want to book the great escapade i think. So far I just want to fly into NYC, Then to San Fran overland to LA, then Cook Is, Fiji, Auckland, Bali, Hong Kong then back home. Flying from London is not a problem since I have lived there for years but then problem is booking the actual ticket.Do you know if virgin will allow me to book it over the phone when Im not actually in the country?
Any help will be greatly appreciated:)

Hi There

Welcome to the forum!

You may want to call Flying Club to check, but as far as i am aware, most of the RTW tickets start in London (or occasionally Brussels), so you should be able to purchase a RTW ticket over the phone from where you are (i dont see you have a lot of choice) but i would call them to be sure. You then have to make your own way to the first point of departure, say London, but once you are there following your route is the easy bit!

I did a RTW trip last year (a Great Escapade) as have a few others on here, so feel free to ask away if you have any questions.

Just to clarify something, when I spoke to VS about doing The great escapade I was told that you can start it at any of the cities they serve, not just London. However if you are living in Denmark then yes London would probably be your starting point.

Thanks for that Dave :) Nicely clears up that one for the non-UK based among us planning the GE.

And she was tantalizing me with Escapade ideas earlier this week!
Dangerous one, that High Flyer -- the kind of dangerous we like, of course.

Can you start the Great Escapade in the US?
Is it charged in dollars then?

Best,
OWEN.
