Just had my monthly statement through and towards the bottom it says:

Add a touch of Class
Upper Class passengers may now enjoy a complimentary Meet and Greet service at the Heathrow Upper Class Wing with Purple Parking.

Does anyone know anything about this? We've got a trip in Sept and this could come in handy if it is indeed free...

I recall a post a couple of months ago that said this was happening but nothing more.

Just had a quick google:

http://www.purplebusinessparking.com/co ... nfo&ap=LHR

Found this under the upper class section - "At the top of the Upper Class Wing, please park in one of the parking bays, where a Purple Parking representative will be there to meet you."

Sounds promising? As far as I was aware you still had to drop the car off to them elsewhere?

Previously, you had to go meet the Purple parking agent in the departures drop off point, they would then come in your car with you to the UC Wing and then would take your car from there.

The new way sounds a better way, so long as it doesn't clog up the drop off area and there is always an agent available.

Here's a recent thread on this.

From the reading of the pricing I'm not sure what would be "complimentary". You'd have to price a "collect the driver at the usual spot and drive round" option against the "meet at DTCI" - if the former option is still available.

Called today and spoke to a lovely lady at Virgin. She explained that this will be a 3 month trial with Purple Parking and it's a different product from the normal Purple Parking meet and greet. The DTCI meet and greet is exclusively available through Virgin.

She was very kind and did offer to arrange for Purple Parking to meet me at the Wing this time since my booking with them was several months old and pre-dated the Virgin arrangement being available. :D

Told a friend who is going away soon with Virgin about this, they were very interested so phoned up VS for a quote.
Direct with PP: £113.95
Through Virgin with pick up at DTCI: £195.95

I can't see why they need such a price hike! And totally not worth the difference.

I did ask about a potential price difference when calling and the VS agent immediately pointed out that the statement in the newsletter that, "Upper Class passengers may now enjoy a complimentary Meet and Greet service at the Heathrow Upper Class Wing with Purple Parking" refers only to the complimentary meet and greet by VS staff at the wing and NOT to the chauffeur service from Purple Parking.

Terrible wording then!

I used the DTCI/Purple Parking combo as Mrs P insisted on doing it that way and when we arrived at the Wing we were met by the usual smiling VS crew but the Purple Parking 'captain' wasn't there! So we checked in, dropped bags and wasted no time getting to the CH whilst leaving the key with the VS Crew.
About 45 mins into our elongated stay in the CH (see TR) I was called to the CH desk and told that I had to go back to security to get my Purple a Parking ticket. Will formally lodge complaint on return but did say that it was the Captains fault for not being there and for the extra few squid I would expect the service to be efficient
