Hi guys. Thought this would be the best place to ask this....

What is the best hotel to stay at on the LHR site (or as close to) that has the best room view for watching the airport and aircrafts landing/taking off?

Cheers :)

I'd say the Renaissance on Bath Road. Directly overlooks the northern runway.

Easy 5-10 minute bus or cab ride from the central terminal area (local TfL buses are free so avoid the extortionate Hotel Hoppa buses).

Agree with Gumshoe - the Renaissance has excellent runway views.

If you are going to be there a while, pay the little bit extra and get Exec Lounge access. The lounge look directly over the runways and is geared up for plane spotters, as well as having the other drinks and food perks.

I agree with the others too. Renaissance is perfect for plane spotting.

We stayed there last year and I loved it! Be sure to ask for a runway view room though! The hotel itself is undergoing renovations so some of the rooms are a bit old but the view more than made up for it. It was also the cheapest LHR hotel I have stayed in, though we did walk across the street for dinner at the Radisson.

Just used the Renaissance for my LHR>SFO, LAX>LHR hols.

Not the best looking hotel from the outside but nice on the inside. Booked via holidayextras (QuidCo cashback) with parking and no complaints. The parking was a bit of a nightmare during the school holidays but found a good space away from the main spaces where they are really narrow. Had a room with a great view over the runway and not a sound to be heard!

Used the Hoppa myself which was only £16 return for 2 adults (and 3 kids were free). Much prefer the Hilton on the terminal at Gatwick but the destinations are limited...

or if you are looking for a panoramic view then head over to the hilton garden inn (formerly jury's) the many benefits include full runway view from seven storeys high, you can see just about the whole airport as well as inbound planes very close as they arrive over hatton cross
tube station, its now a great hotel after hilton have taken over a9and a recent major re-furb)
much easier access to the terminals / central london via tube.
been staying there this last number of years and still i think its the best value, best airport/plane view, and overall ideal bet for a lhr stay, and a five minute walk from the hotel will take you directly under the inbound aircraft when they are VERY low !!

In full agreement with looneyball, much much better view (i.e a full view) of 27L than the Renaissance affords of 27R. No lounge, but nice hotel.
