It seems VA have set Oz a challenge to create a bag that holds less than a tea bag despite being 10 times it’s size [:0]. Does any one else think the value is in the name rather than the content – it will be interesting to see what disappears from it next..

Have fun (Bring back triple miles.. [y] )

Hopefully when they redesign the amenity kit it will be improved. I would imagine that it would mae sense (financially and promotionally) to have Cowshed products in the next kit, so i would be happy to see the OB kits retired for something new, Cow branded, and hopefully full of more useful things.

What would the rest of you like to see in the amenity kits?

Id like to see a few more 'beauty' products, such as a decent moisturiser, lipbalm and toothbrush/toothpaste for the flight, nice UC pen, maybe a few more VS branded bits (i loved the old UC keyrings they used to give) in addtion to mints, tissues, earplugs and eye mask as standard. The kit doesnt have to be bursting of stuff, but a few high quality bits would be nice!

What about some nice Virgin Vie stuff back like the night time and day time mouisturisers etc or even some molton brown. And none of that crappy rembrant toothpaste (personal preference there)

Yes to that--the zipper kit was terrific:
Polos
tissues
eye shades
Virgin Vie--day/night moisturizer, lip balm
socks
note pad
pen (a GOOD pen--I did like the silver rocket pen)
toothpaste and brush (although these could be better)
comb
ear plugs

I quite like the Virgin Vie products--would be fine too with Bumble and Bumble, and it makes good sense to create a his and hers--never have determined what I'm supposed to do with cufflinks....but wouldn't say no to a funky pair of earrings...say a mini set of dangly 744s?
The his component (what do THEY do with all those cufflinks?) could be equally funky, say a glow pen...they're quite fun. VS don't need to keep pace with BA on staid silver doodads--theirs should be as interesting and fun as the airline. Unpredictable--a VS branded mobile, PDA, sunshades case?

Three cheers for trying to give the amenity kit a funky edge Virgin but my vote too goes to putting it back to as was, decent moisturiser etc. and please no more cufflinks!

Someone said somewhere that the socks should go, please don't - I use them on board and they're especially useful padding around when some people aren't as directional as they could be in the lavatories!!!!

I always feel a need to get the lav paper out under those circumstances in a win win scenario for the next passenger and myself. Dry feet all round and no one following thinks it was me.... am I alone?[:w]

I'd guess that the limit of the Ozwald Boateng involvement is the design of the packaging and the branding - i.e. part/all of the cost of the kit is picked up by Boateng's company, and it's there for co-branded advertising.

The kits are probably all still assembled in some airline sundries factory (probably in China), like most other airline amenity kits.

I think, if I were Mr Boateng, I'd be ashamed to have my name associated with something which is, as the OP points out, visibly "shrinking" and cheap looking.

I commented on the "evaporating" amenity kit in the Xplane survey I got on Friday's flight out to BOS.

Cheers,
Mike (a zipper kit fan...)

I've just yesterday decided I need a nice travel wallet that can hold all FF cards, booking confirmations and passport etc. Looked round on the internet and didn't find much (nice one on Flight001, but they don't ship to the UK and can't wait till I'm next in NY again). Just found the most recent OB kit does the job very well, although it could do with a couple more card holders. And it has a space for my own pen! :D

In regards to the redesigned Kit: keep the socks, the current ones are very nice and ideal for everyday use also, not like the old tube ones in Y. A nice VS branded product would be good, not bothered about loads of toiletries (then again I'm a smelly bloke) but a lip balm, toothbrush/paste are important. Back to the old ear plugs please.

Problem is with the OB one it won't fit in the armrest in UC [V][:0]. Radley do a very good one that fits. Can't find it without the bl**dy scottie though these days

My last flight was only in PE, as it was a treat for my mon n dad I made my own bags up from OB ones I received on earlier flight.

Usual stuff eye masks ear plugs etc, and then copious amounts of CARTIER products that are given as freebies in my local Hoopers when you spend lots.

Dragone de Cartier for Mum, miniature parfum, bath gels and eye creams
Pasha de Cartier for Dad
Eau De Cartier for my fella
and tonnes of Santos for me.

Now thats what I call a classy amenity kit.

What I've noticed is that you don't get tissues anymore (at least I haven't the last few UC trips). I find it interesting that Y, PE passengers get them while UC pax have to go to the lav to blow their nose!

Lets cut out the 'middle man' and redesign the kit to a pack of polos - a nice silver pen and some lip gloss that arrive IN a pair of socks!

No tissues in Y amenity kit either I'm afraid, at least there weren't on my last trip. Again there used to be.

Just looked at the Radley one. What the **** is that dog all about, ruins a perfectly good peice of kit! Still I like my travel wallet to have a zip, not a clasp. The Conde Nast promotion one looks lovely, but at £105 don't think I can justify it when I can make do witha coverted OB.

Maybe this may be a more economical alternative, ad Decker says sans chien. Or if you are a real airline history buff, perhaps this. But for the ultimate in value for money try this! - To be doing "buy it now" the guy must have pinched a stock of them!
