My guess is that the upgrades will change as well guys. There was some kind of formula to get to these upgrade mileage costs (I guess), so my estimation is that we will see a small upgrade increase.

My guess is:
EC-PE 22,500
PE-UC 45,000
EC-UC 70,000

I DO HOPE THAT I AM WRONG.

What on earth do you go to EWR every two weeks for? Have you ever thought about becoming cabin crew. Its cheaper!

Information received so far is that they are not changing. LRoM said earlier: "TP levels to reach/maintain Silver and Gold have not changed. Neither have the companion or upgrade costs."

Wow, the extra bonus miles will go down very nicely for you as well I'm sure. And if you make Gold CH and Revivals access will make what I am sure must now be a fairly tedious jaunt a little more bareable.

Interesting to note that it is now cheaper to travel Singapore Air to Oz in Y - 100k rather than 105k on VS.

Have not checked some of the other partner redemption rates but my guess is that unless they increase too there may be some other bargains - e.g. Delta to US 50k for Y and 90k for Business.

And isn't there an argument that SQ have a slightly better Y product? it more leg room.

American girlfriend !

Not sure I'd be much use as cabin crew as I'm usually asleep before the end of the runway, although come to think of it I could probably fit in quite well at American Airlines. [:I]

BTW if you are unfortunate enough to sit next to a fat guy who's snoring on VS17 feel free to whack me around the head. I'm used to it. [:#]

Absoloutly - and from the end of the year it will be the A380. Guess my provisional Y Oz trip is gonna switch to SG. Bit of a shame as I am flying SG this year also.

Looks like I will now be using my Fc AC for upgrades now as it will take 5 UCS flights to earn a full reward flight. I am just one of those lowly bucket and spaders though so it will not be easy for me to keep my Silver[:(].

Anyway it will be nice to get a few more miles whilst I am silver which will be this year and next.

Am I right in thinking if I buy a PE ticket I can upgrade with 40K to UCS and still earn around 15K for the PE bit I paid cash for and still get TP'S

Yes, this is how I maintain my gold and extend the value of my miles. I book either B or L or S fares and then upgrade using miles.

I will buy a B or L fare only if I can get a confirmed upgrade to PE or UC, and a S fare if I can't and then try at the airport.

So for example, on a S fare in LHR-SFO-LHR upgrading to UC costs around 20k miles, or around 45k miles in S.

Already expressed my thoughts in another post (sorry - first time poster). Have now ended that and would like to repeat here:

Asia flyers come out the worst:

- N class still does not qualify
- YBL now only earns 100% rather than 125%
- Extra 10K to qualify for economy/premium to hong kong (similarly with other asia dest).

BuffyTVS65 - I've just used SQ redemption calc and it has Economy Saver to Oz as 90K (though I do recall it used to be 100K). And with a 15% online redemption discount, it will be 77K). To bad I cannot transfer my points to Kris Flyer.

Not as I read the changes - Asia gets 100% of mileage for N as opposed to 50% for US/Carribean

True for everyone

But the increase is worst for US West Coast. Tokyo has no increase at all.

Upgrade and companion costs are not changing.

In regards to N class, there are some changes that you may have missed - All routes to US and Carribean earn 50% mileage and 1 TP each way now for N. Every other route in N earns 100% mileage and 2 TP, so this has added soem routes such as SYD to the list of rotues that now earn - BTW SYD in N will earn 4 TP each way.

Thanks,
Richard

Well I am glad to be wrong, but can I take an out an insurance policy against companion and upgrade hikes with LRoM insurance?

One other thing about N fares to North America/Carribean.

Am I right in thinking that if you are an Ag/Au holder you are effectively getting 50%/100% bonus on your normal miles as the bonus's are derived on base mileage not the 50%?

ISTBC by the real experts here. But I don't think it is 100% either. I think that the new earnings apply to all bookins after 1 march. From the original pix post:
All bookings taken after 1st March Ð earn at new rate
. But if the previously booked fare does count, then its 100%
N 100% earn on all other routes Ð Asia, Africa, Australia, Middle East and India

If you have a look at my post on page 3 of this thread, the quoting is slightly different on the VS website - bookings taken prior to 1st March for travel post-1st March will earn at the new rates.

Cheers

I also STBC, but my understanding is that all flights taken after 1st March earn at the new rates irrespective of when booked.

The following is from the VS website

"All new earning and redemption levels are effective from 1 March 2006. New earning levels and tier-related bonuses are effective for flights taken on or after this date."

No mention of when flights are booked.
