We are off to USA on the Western Roadburner Tour from San Francisco to Las Vegas. Booked this last August.

I have been keeping an eye on the forum's over the last few months and was starting to worry (a little) about Virgins reputation.

From booking the holiday to receiving the tickets never had such a smooth booking. E-mail queries answered quickly and telephone query on tickets (my stupidity) was answered very quickly.

Excellent so far - just the holiday to go now and hopefully (touch wood) everything should run smoothly.

My only gripe about virgin holidays - I am trying to book a 2 centre snow holiday for next February 07. Only problem.....the online booking for this isnt available yet, but some of the singles are. Rang virgin they can book it by telephone for me. Only problem with that is last night the online booking system was offering 10% off (normally 5%). With telephone bookings no extra discount available - even though I mentioned that it wasnt my fault they wernt loaded onto the online system yet. A little unfair I think! So I shall leave it for the time being until they are on (or I get a better deal elsewhere). Doesnt make sense to me as they run the risk of losing a repeat sale!!

How many virgin Hols have you been on previously??
If your Ski Holiday will be your third booking with them you can join their frequent Virgin Club, which gives you 10% off your third and all future bookings. Don't need to worry then about catching one night specials, or booking either online or on the net...... No exclusions, 10% everytime. Hope this helps....

Ian

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

To get 10% off any Virgin Holiday, wheather booked online or over the phone, simply join Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club, which can be done online (if your not already a member). Then make a booking and quote your Flying Club number to Virgin Holidays - you dont even need to use your Flying Club account to get 10% off Virgin Holidays. All Flying Club members get a 10% discount of any Virgin Holiday package.

Virgin Hols is either completely "pants" or completely "brillient" there is no in between.

When its good its good though, lol. And being able to collect airmiles as well as reasonable upgrade prices is worthwhile.

Would certainly agree with that. The length of time waiting to speak too anybody, and the frequency that you are put on hold or transfered leaves a lot to be desired. [|)]

Their K + Z upgrades are bargains in most cases though!! [y]

Welcome to the Forum, Ian.

I think you'll find us a friendly bunch on here - we all ask daft questions from time to time, one about aircraft livery immediately springs to mind[:I] but that's another story.

I sympathise with you being unable to book online with VH. They normally are not too bad and if they do make a rats of things they usualy put it right fairly quickly. The inability to book accom online has been a particular bitch of mine for the past few months. The facility exists to book New York accom online but if you try for Boston, or Vermont, or San Francisco, the date goes only as far as Dec 05[n] There are previous posts about this subject around but, as the majority of the posters have said, either join the Flying Club or, if you are on your third or more Virgin Holiday, the Frequent Virgins Club and get your 10% discount that way.

Good Luck:D

Thanks everyone,

I have now joined the flying club and started to collect my points!! Must admit I thought I had to fly 3 times with virgin before i could get discounts or collect air miles - the flying club seems to be a well kept secret as never realised it was there.

As a follow up - how do you get your discount on virgin holidays if booking online or on the phone, will they realise i am a member of do i contact them afterwards?

Thanks again everyone. My day seems to be getting better and better!

Hi Ian,thanks for postinging on here.

VH seemed to go through a very rough patch a while back,as can be seen from these threads here and here.

From the feedback we have been getting of late things seem to improved greatly, maybe they do listen ?,who knows.

Please come back with a trip report and let us know how it went for you.

Once you have made you V Hols booking online, just give them a call (or email them which is often quicker) with your booking ref and get them to add your Flying Club number to your booking and hence get the 10% discount, they will then amend your booking and re-issue you an invoice. If you call to book just quote your Flying Club number and they should give you the discount there and then.

Once you have your booking reference, you can now view your V Hols bookings online right up until you pay your final ballance here. You can access your V Hols booking regardless of how you booked it (online or on the phone).

You will need to go to the Virgin Atlantic web site to view/change you seats on the A/C and add your Flying Club number to your flights if it's VS you are flying with) - again you will need your V Hols booking ref to do this.
