Just made my first ever milage booking... Finally, something for free !!! [^][^][y][^][^]

Book 2 people in PE. I was assigned seats on the lower deck of the 747, so I moved them to the upper deck! All perfectly normal and easy:D

I have now booked an additional 3 seats in PE using cash [:0] I was assigned 3 seats on the lower deck. I tried to move my seat to the upper deck, and I keep getting the following error...

"We're sorry. You have selected an invalid seat combination. Please try again, ensuring all passengers are seated together. You are still shown in your original seat(s)"

I have no idea how to change to the upper deck without calling Virgin. Does anyone have any ideas???[:?][:?][:?]

Thanks

What seats are you selecting? Three in a row or three on the same side?

I have tried all the combo's I can think of...

A C & H
A C & C
A C & A
C H & K

Spend ages trying em all, just to make sure I was not being daft!

Have a look here and the following sections:

Q Can I choose seats which are not together?
A CAA regulations mandate that carriers make every effort possible to seat families together. If you are travelling with a child, we can only allow you to choose seats which are grouped together.

Q Can I leave an empty seat between passengers in my group?
A We make every effort possible to honour your advance seat assignment. When single seats are left between passengers in the same group, it becomes difficult to fill that seat at check in, often resulting in the entire group having to be re-seated. To minimise any delays to departure that re-seating may cause, and to allow those passengers that wish to sit together to do so, we have to insist that the entire group be seated together.

It could well be that the site software doesn't like you trying to split up a group on the same PNR, but I'm sure a call to VS will get you sorted :)

Cheers

The strange thing is, I have thing is, I have A C & D assigned to me on the lower deck. So thats 2 seats, an asle and another seat.

Thats exactly what I am trying to do on the upper deck. Get 2 seats, an asle and another seat! And, then that actually gets me next to the other family members!

But, I shall call VS Tomorrow, and let everyone know what they say.

There may be some issue about the seats on the upper deck missing D's and the Computer thinking these are not together. I would give thema quick call as I am sure the call centre will be able to sort this for you.

Why the reluctance to call Virgin to sort it out??! They are usually very helpful about these things and, if they can, will sort it out very quickly.

From what you say you've tried, the system thinks you're splitting your party of three up on the Upper Deck. You've tried the A/C/H type thing not the ACD thing.

Even if you're not with children, ACD is acceptable for a family being seated together, and stops the system thinking you're splitting your party up.

Chris,

There is no reluctance to call then, I like to use the self service option! After all, if its there, it should work;)

The good news is, after a quick call to Virgin, they have moved the seats for me...[y] However, it would not let the young lady move them with ease. It took several attempts.[:(]

We concluded it had something to do with the odd number of seats (like EGG).[:?]

Still, all sorted now! Thanks for everyone's advice.
