I just took my first return flight with VS, LHR-NRT at Christmas. I'd booked two Premium Economy tickets in the sale last September but then was mighty PO'd when an Upper Class seat sale came up the next month. I could have flown UC for only £300 more (return) than the PE seats cost! As the fare was totally restricted I knew that changing the seats would be impossible-BUT-I phoned customer services to appeal to their better nature and see if anything could be done and to my utter surprise, the guy upgraded my tickets there and then and the only cost was the difference between the two sale fares. No problems at all! If this is the level of customer care Virgin normally provides, I'm very impressed!!
The downside was that my excitement on anticipating the trip on a wonderful 340-600 soon evaporated when it turned out that the outward flight was on a 340-300. A bit of a rarity for that type of plane to be used on that route I think! No video on demand and a rather poor seat right beside the bar. Still, the return journey on the 600 was easily the best experience in the air I've ever had. Virgin rocks!

Boy oh boy you struck lucky there - I would have sworn VS would have turned round and said tough luck, you made your bed now sleep in it (not those words, but you know what I mean!). You must be remarkably persuasive. Well done and glad you are such a happy bunny.[y](PS - 343's used on that route about 4% of the time, with non-suite 343 used only about 1% of the time - your right, a J2000 343 to NRT is a bit like hens' teeth)

Suppose VS dropped the 300 on the outbound as a leveller for upgrading your fare????

Sods law how things turn out like that, still I'm sure the long bird made up for it on the return......

J2000 on a 343 is still better than PE on anything else, so it seems like a pretty good deal for the OP[y]

I like the J2000 for day flights. Its much more sociable when travelling with my wife...

Then I like the UCS on the way back for the bed!!![|)]

Now, it would be good if in the hour or 2 a plane is being cleaned, they could swap round the day seats (J2000) to the Night Seats UCS!!!

Still...

One day, I am sure!!!
