I've tried up the front of the plane and at the back in my time and now I prefer (but understand why other flyers dont agree) sitting as far infront of the wing as possible. Now I've managed to get row 30 and row 31 coming back in a LGW/MAN configured 747 - I'm happy with these, but really like the look of rows 21-23 in Y. Does anyone have any experience of these seats? Are they allocated at check-in?

Seatguru.com comments regarding these seats: "Many enjoy the private feel and quiet atmosphere of this mini cabin" Sounds good to me :D

Hi

I've sat in this section to UVF but was in the middle section at the bulkhead. On that occasion it was particulary quiet but bear in mind that young children or babies are likely to be in this section.

My husband and family also sat in this section to MCO in September last year, the seats were not available for selection beforehand but were allocated at on-line check in as previously they could not get 5 seats together.

I think your only option for the return journey will be to ask at check-in.

Those seats are also the only way you'll get off the plane quickly while sitting in Economy.

All of Economy sitting behind door L2 will usually be held back as the UC cabin ahead and the PE cabin upstairs dismebark, but in the midst of those cabins are those 3 rows of economy you refer to and they'll usually be amongst the very first off the plane. The likelihood of being near babies in bassinets would concern me though.

Currently in Martinique with my laptop off the side of the easycruise jacked into someones wi-fi ashore in the condos opposite:D

Just to let you know, I managed to get the seats in the mini-cabin, infact the lady at check-in tried to put us on row 30, and when I asked if I could be moved, she got a real face on her, but put us in row 22. Got on the 744 and turned left instead of right (what a feeling that was ;) ) Out of the 27 seats in rows 21-23 only 7 of them were filled including us so we had a row each!!

Deftinately the most comfortable flight i've ever took in coach :)

P.S. No babies at all in there [}:)]

We came back from MCO in 21HJK last April. We did indeed have little'uns and were using the basinette position. We secured the seats by using the Downtown Disney Check-in. The mini-cabin was not particularly full - probably about 2/3rds. No real problem with kids on that flight and to be quite honest is much better than the main cabins as you have a far higher number of babies/kids in these areas and it only takes one crying baby to ruin the night.

Having said that we flew out in PE section in Seat 82HK directly in front of row 21 (albeit behind the curtain). There was a single family across D/E/F/G/H/J/K including at least 4 kids and a baby. They were pretty much left to their own devices and everytime I looked the father was sitting there with his arms folded and a totally disinterested look on his face.

Personally I would go for this cabin every time - kids or no kids.
