Yes you can and I think it cost's around US$3.00 a message (either SMS or email), but dont quote me on that price [:I]. If the message cannot be sent for any reason you are not supposed to get charged for it but I got stung with this once.

Remember to write down any mobile phone numbers before you switch off your mobile before the A/C doors close if you cannot remember them!!

You can also send messages to other seats on the A/C too

Have fun!!! :D

:)Hiya,

The SMS and Texting service is available on all v:port and Odyssey aircraft and costs US$ 2.50 to send a message and USD$ 2.00 to receive a message from the ground. Simply select "Communicate" from the on screen menu.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's not available on Odyssey...?

Nice! - Any idea when they'll be able to allow access to your own email, too...? ;)

Pete - if this is the case, the Inflight Entertainment section may need updating for Odyssey.

I finally (third attempt) managed to send and receive messages in flight last week. The user interface is astonishingly poor [V]. Arranging the characters in alphabetical order in three l-o-n-g rows makes text entry tedious. Why not allow use of the telephone keypad (one press for A, two for B, three for C) as an alternative? It's faster and familiar. Did I overlook an alternate method of navigating the keyboard?

Also, I could not see a way to shift to lower case letters and typed exclusively in UPPER CASE. Did I miss it?
