Well this has potential to turn into a bun fight! Just to keep things in control a little, may I suggest that trying to compare VS UC to much more expensive products such as BA and Sing F is not really too useful. BA and sing J is much more relevant as a comparitor.

Bear in mind that Virgin themselves place their product BETWEEN Business and First - so it should sit between both options for each airline...

Is it priced that way - I thought it was priced pretty close to BA club? Are Cathay and SingAir BC cheaper than VS?

VS J is priced in line with BA Club, but they market the product themselves as being between Club and First (more so before those red pillows disappeared anyway!) The UCS bed is larger (length and width ways) than the BA First bed

VS J competes very strongly with the F offerings of most major airlines, except (IMHO) in terms of the food and wine.

OK accepted - I have not as yet travelled with Virgin but I will let you know about my last experience with BA.
lAST Sept I flew from Dublin / via Heathrow to Bkk with Ba Club.
The club lounge in term 4 ( i think) was ok - bright colours - self service bar - sandwiches etc - but nothing else really - very large and busy - there was several different lounges spread over i think 2 floors - was ok but nothing compared with Sia in singapore raffels lunge - but thats another story - boarding to bkk (747-400)was quick and efficient - had had a few beers in the lounge so was nice and relaxed and in no rush to get to seat ( down stairs )- boarded and had a window seat but my collegue travelling with me was in a middle row even though we had requested seats together - anyway some other couples arrived on board and were also split up so we all moved about and were sorted - seats -- very good in fact - i was very impressed - pre-flight drink of champers - after take off had another drink while reading the menu - fas were ok but as this was night s flight i felt " being a little rushed to make our mind up" - had a chicken dish -- tasted like chicken sort off - but overall service was very good - took a sleeping pill then and decided to watch a movie - in flight entertainment a joke - on stop and forward facility like sia - old out dated - thank god for the sleeping tablet - put the seat into full flat mode - fa brought me a pillow and blanket and slept for 7 hrs of flight - woke up too a lovely smell of coffee and a menu for breakfast - in fact breakfast was much better than dinner - really good - however i was starving after the "chicken" ----- overall a very good flight but the ba ifa is a joke - even aer lingus on the airbusto jfk is better and thats only a 3* airline - food - ok - breakfast v good - seat very good - overall - 7/10 for business seating -- i flew back first class but will let you know about that if anybody is interested -

People are always interested in flight experiences Keith. The best place to tell everyone about them is under the Travel Reports sections. There is one for VS and one for non-VS flights.

The only one I can compare with is SQ Raffles:

Cabin Ambience - VS
Seat - SQ / VS Both good for different reasons.
Food - SQ
Staff - VS
Ameinities - SQ
Lounges - VS
IFE - Both show good stuff, but SQ's is a bit clunky so VS
Price - VS

Now I'm SQ First would be a different story :D

Keith,

The Trip Reports section (for both Virgin and Other airlines) of the website may offer a lot of answers, also... ;)

would have to disagree on this one slightly, I have found the BA first seat in bed mode to be a little longer than the UCS.The 747 UCS is wider, the airbus 340-600 UCS about the same. The BA seat feels more spaceous as it's not got the walls both sides. The UCS in bed mode is more comfortable than either BA CW or First.

I had the wonderful experience of flying First with SIA and it was great from start to finish - loads of space / extremely comfy seats - IFE was so good - food and drink - wow perfect - they have a thing called "book the chef" so you can book one of your favorite meals prior to your flight - and then when it comes to sleeping - Givenchy PJs - mattress and goose filled duvets and blankets -- OK OK I know the price was higher than Virgin but they don't do UC on their Singapore flight for some reason (maybe they code share) - honest when I compare it to BA First who are more expensive - BA are not in the same league - but I am really looking forward to Virgin UC to see the difference and improvement they say over BA Club.

Seats: VS beats most in J and quite a few airlines in F
CC: VS:D
Ambience:VS
