Good morning,
(First post)
Taking Mrs E on a surprise 60th birthday trip to Las Vegas and then on to New York in May 2019.
I purchased premium economy seats both ways.
VS155 LHR to LAS
VS26 JFK to LHR
A couple of months after purchase I received an offer to upgrade the outbound flight to UC for £375 per person and the inbound for £800 per person. I thought the LHR to LAS offer was good value and it would add a bit of fun to the trip. I booked the outbound but not the return.
Yesterday, I received an offer to upgrade the JFK to LHR flight from premium economy to UC for £457 per person.
Compared to the LHR to LAS offer, plus the return is a shorter flight and flying on an Airbus A340-600 VS a 787-9 I’m in a bit of a quandary and I am undecided what to do. Book it, forget it or wait and see if a better offer comes along between now and departure day.
We have flown upper class before but not with Virgin.
We have visited Las Vegas but not New York.
I would appreciate the thoughts of forum members, hopefully helping this undecided old fella to come to a decision.
Thank you.

Assuming you don’t have status?

I would say go for it, it’s a good price. That upgrade you got for £375 is incredible and amazing value but the £457 is also quite a good rate!
The JFK clubhouse is amazing and in my opinion equals LHR as a flagship. The 346 is a good aircaft and the seats in upper are just as comfy!

Your young lady will only turn 60 once!

It has to be your decision based on how much you want it and whether you think it is the best use of your money.
I used to think day flights were best done in Upper and put up with a bit of discomfort on a night flight.
Mrs D on the other hand, demands a flat bed on a night flight and will put up with a seat during the day.
I do agree it is a very good price and if it were me I'd take it.

Both seem like decent prices, especially the outbound.
But let's face it, you've already decided :-P
Just book it and look forward to it :-D

1. welcome to v-flyer

2. That is a very good price and it is very unlikely that it will go down. On the contrary it will go up

3. Nab it whilst it's there. Other people will have got the same offer and it might not be around for long.

4. Remember on the UC leg back you'll have a higher baggage allowance than PE plus you'll get access to the Revivals lounge at LHR so you can freshen up before you go home.

Not on the VS26 you won’t. That’s the day flight from JFK.

The only downside being once you have done it.......... :-D Many a V Flyer have followed this path and then sold their grandmother to do it again :)

Have a enjoyable time and do not feel scared to make use of all the facilities available to you

I was about to say, in 2008 I was offerd an upgrade from PE to UC for £342. And I dithered, before pouncing on it! £375 10 years later is excellent value.
UC is fabulous and you'll have a long flight to take full advantage. I'd also recommend the Drive Thru Check In at Heathrow, you can do it via taxi if you are not driving yourself. And allow extra time in the Clubhouse!
New York is amazing btw - I'd recommnend avoiding Times Square and find the great bars in Lower East Side...
