I was thinking I'd like a Caribbean holiday next year as a change from my usual Vegas trips,I've been to Barbados and Antigua before but thought maybe I'd try Grenada or St Lucia , Any idea on decent hotels that anyone can reccomend , ( prefer adult only ), even if elsewhere in the Caribbean.I will be booking flight seperately as saving my airmiles for that ,do you find booking direct for accomodation with hotel or through agent better value?
Many Thanks

Mrs J and I have visited many places in the Caribbean, but we have always found Grenada to be our favourite of all the wonderful island nations!

The Grenadans are truly delightful, genuine down to earth people.

The Calabash or Mount Cinnamon are lovely hotels for you to consider. If you require any further details re. Grenada (day trips, restaurants etc), then feel free to PM me.

We had a fabulous holiday last year at Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada, it is a lovely place set on the beautiful Grand Anse beach. We will back to Spice Island either later this year or early next. I just hope the Prince of Wales left the place tidy on his recent stay.

In just under three weeks we will be staying at East Winds on St Lucia for the 7th time. This little (30 room) treasure is amazing, it is laid back and great fun and even has real champagne as part of the all inclusive offering.

I would recommend both hotels, both all inclusive, although neither is adult only. Both have a high number of revisiting guests, EW has one guest who has run up 30 stays.

If it has to be adults only then Sandals have resorts on both islands.

Another vote for East Winds...

Thankyou all for taking time to help, I certainly will enjoy sitting down after work and having a look at the properties mentioned.Do any of you find it cheaper to book direct as when I had a quick look at hotel only on virgin holidays website last week the average seemed to be about 2k each pp for a week AIl inclusive (in March),

We went to St James Club Morgan Bay on St Lucia last year, all inclusive, really loved it and fund it much more relaxing than Barbados. It is a bit of a flog from UVF after the flight, but seemed to cater for everyone...

Would heartily agree with all those that have said St. Lucia. Wonderful island, great people and plenty to do if you don't want to chill out around the pool all holiday.

If you're after an adult only resort but don't fancy the Sandals experience then try Rendezvous. Up between Castries and Rodney Bay it is an hour or so transfer but I have never found this a problem and you could always splurge on the helicopter transfer to the small regional airport nearby.

Some complain about the fact that the hotel is close to the airport and you get aircraft noise, however they are all turbo props and the noise is gone in seconds and there aren't that many flights a day anyway.

Food is good and the vibe is relaxed. Would opt for a verandah room minimum or maybe one of the rooms near the pool.
