yea it's just a charter to connect with the cruise ships. there were a few flights to Rio opperated by VS at the end of last year (late december i think). I'm sure that someone else on the fourm was on a flight that the FA said that she had rio on roster for december.

First flight to Rio is going out tonight, due to leave in a few minutes (22:05).

Is an A346 apparently.

Given that these are relatively long flights and quick turn around (in comparison) whats the story with the flight and cabin crew for the return flight. What are the rules ?

I am guessing the Cunard are flying UK pax who are boarding the cruise in GIG and SCL on the outbound flights. So will the return crew fly as passengers on the outbound flight or is that considered to be "flying time" so they have to catch another non-VS commercial flight out, rest up overnight and then work the return flight. Similarly how will the crew on the outbound flight return?

One crew was positioned out to Rio in advance:
They flew Virgin to NYC for 1 night then to Rio for 2 nights then operated the flight back to LHR.

The crew who operated to Rio will have 2 nights there and do the same as above crew!!

Nice .... bet they were happy! Although lots of disgruntled QM2 passengers might take it down.

If there's a charter like this, how is it determined who sits in what cabin?

VS from GIG on the arrivals board at LHR T3 this morning, very pleasing on the eye!! ;)

Glad this route is on the " VS Wishlist", the quicker it arrives the better. Suppose South America is the last frontier unconquered currently by VS......

Any inside info on when we may see a scheduled service to South America???

Gee I wouldnt want to be the crew working on that flight. Those Cunard pax will be very unhappy- half the places they were meant to stop at were scrapped.

Also seems that services onboard are very limited. No freedom meals etc in UCS.

But great to see VS in GIG i wonder if any one will get a cheeky picture or two- have said for years that GIG would be a fantastic route-

Imagine if there are any Cunard pax who are familiar with the VS product. Half a cruise and half service on the way back....[V]

As you say, F.A's servicing people who have paid Cunard for U.C are in the firing line!! [n]

The letters are being written this morning I think, Customer Service at Cunard would be an interesting experience next week!! [}:)]

Well seeing as the Cunard pax got a full refund for the cruise and flights they shouldn't be to unhappy.

Does anyone know, out of interest, how much it costs to charter a VS aircraft for a return flight?
