Could anyone tell me if its possible to book Virgin flights 11 months in advanced. I was thinking of going back to NY for new year around 28th Dec. The VA website say im too early to book although V Hols only have PE and UC availbale on all flights that day and the 29th. Opodo offer VA economy for £1000 and BA for £379. Dont really wont to go BA so was wondering if i wait will more room likely to become available later.

Thanks
Simon

Have you tried phoning VS? I'm sure they will be able to help, and I believe they have a garauntee that you won't be able to buy your seats cheaper. So travel agents won't be able to get better deals - but i could be making that bit up.

You can't book any sector with VS (including through the call center) more than 336 days in advance.

You CAN through VH, as they take advance bookings, subject to the allocations they're expecting to receive from VS when they're released. As of today, the furthest sector you can book directly with VS (by phone or online) is 2nd January 2007.

(It's likely to be your return leg that's causing an issue - not the December outbound)

Just to add to this, I was travelling last Easter with my family to MCO and we had to travel in PE on certain dates. Practically as soon as the 336 days came about I was on the phone to FC and booked my seats.

Lo and behold, about 4 months later I was checking flights for other family members and noticed that I could have saved myself a few quid as the K fare flights IÕd found were a good £150 cheaper each than the S fare I had. I was tempted to cancel my fare and rebook with the K that was available (why it wasnÕt there at the time of booking I donÕt know) but I was happy to leave it be, and at least know that my higher fare had some flexibility.

I know its easy to say, but I wouldnÕt worry too much about the outbound filling up while waiting for the inbound. Only a certain number of tickets will be sold, and its very unlikely that you will not be able to grab the fare you want. I would honestly wait and check the fares when they become available.

I just tried booking for that date (2nd Jan) and already no K seats!!! Not Impressed [:(!] I am sure that space control has decided not to allow any K seats that day [V]

It may not be that there are "already" no K seats; they may not have released any yet... ;)

I often try to book my flights the maximum in advance but it is always a bit of a game trying to get the lowest fare bucket on the first day. Sometimes they are available, sometime only the more flexible ones are and you have to wait a bit. If you but flexible tickets to secure your trip you can always cancel and buy the cheaper ones when they become available.

True, just a bit frustrating when trying to get hotels arranged - over new years in NYC a lot of hotels operate to a reservations policy of paying at the time of booking and no changes or refunds! K is showing up on the 1st no problem so might just have to leave it to chance for a couple of days and decide by the weekend. [|)] Time to sleep on it.

When the difference between K and S is enough to have another night in New York - you betcha!!! [8D]
