Book a limo?

Off to sunny Barbados in a nought but a couple of months, out Z, back D so we get a limo on the return. Only want it from our hotel to BGI (no point back at LGW unless we get it to drive us between terminals!) and just wondered how soon I should be contacting VS to book it.

you can leave booking your limo until the day before you fly, but anytime up to then is fine. Also, you can use your limo service to transfer you from your connection flight to your home...

Doing LGW-MAN once we land so there's no chance of a limo at MAN, have to rely on Parent-Power.

Can I be pedantic? They are chauffeur driven cars (CDC's), as some people were actually expecting a limo transfer!

Yes, but limo sounds so much cooler then CDC which sounds like a sexually transmitted desease.

OK - well, in the UK they're called Volvos and in the US they're called Lincolns [:p]

In terms of timing, the UK need 12 hours. Outside the UK, I (from memory) that it's 24 hours, but mine are booked a bit more in advance of that [:w]

I'm aware they're not 'limos' in the true sense. Maybe I should rephrase it as 'luxury sedan' or such like. So much nicer that all these CDCs, STIs, ASBOs etc.

Perhaps I'm missing something - it seems to me that you are entitled to a limo from MAN to your home.

The relevant page on the VS website goes into more depth, but my reading of it is that you are entitled to the limo. Whoops! Chauffeur driven car. [8D]

Onionz is quite correct. As long as Virgin know your flight details up to Manchester, they can book the car to meet you at MAN and drive you home!

Would that apply to me over in Ireland as well?

sorry HL, it only works on mainland UK.

Those on Isle of Man and Jersey, Guernsey, NI etc don't have that joy either....

Fly to Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Teeside, Glasgow, Aberdeen, ect, and they can get you home, but that's the extent.

(I think it has to do with a Tristar affiliate being available to do the car transfer)

You guys are geniuses - you've just cured almost all of my "getting to the airport" hassles for the csparker family LGW -> MCO, JFK -> LHR holiday. 30k miles down the tube (heck, that was only past of my last triple miles flight), and no worries about finding a driver to take us to the airport.

Can't believe I didn't think of it before...

If you book a CDC with miles....

Remember that the largest car you can book is an estate car in the UK and a standard saloon in the USA when you use your miles. Will only comfortably fit three adults, although you can usually squeeze a fourth in there, not usually much room if everyone takes their full allocation of luggage.

same size, but if more than one of you, can book 2 cars, or possibly 'upgrade' US cars to a STRETCH limo (as in the real thing)

** word of warning, STRETCH limo does NOT have much luggage space, either....

Really?!? Never thought of that... Reading the page you pointed me to on the VS website, it does look possible doesn't it? Going to ring them and find out, watch this space.

Some past experience of mine regarding limos in NY...

A colleague of mine was once picked up in NY by a Hummer, which I believe was a VS-sent car. Not sure of it was a stretch though.

Last week, while waiting for my car to come, I saw three people travelling VS being picked up by a stretch limo. Since those people were on my flight in Upper Class, I presume VS sent the stretch for this number of people. I think they ended up with some luggage in the body of the car. Some former colleagues that travelled as a trio used to always get a stretch.

I had a stretch limo to JFK to myself once. A very dull and lonely journey.

When I booked my reward flight limos yesterday, the Premier team person that I spoke to (who was great - thanks) noted that we would need a stretch in NY for the four of us. We have also asked for an estate in the UK.

I have had a stretch limo for me and my friend as a transfer from SFO to our hotel, this was the VH arranged transfer! We were travelling PE.

Just read that Tristar are about to launch in the US too.
