Anyone else notice that Seatspy recently has been really wrong on the availability of reward seats?

I used to find it really useful and it was spot on, but the last week, I've made some reward bookings and its been all over the shop and in some cases (LHR-NYC) showing tons of availability that does not translate to the VS website.

I tested some other route combos and it was just wrong on all fronts, showing availability when there is none etc.

Anyone finding the same issue?

I have found it wasn't accurate on the Heathrow to Tampa and Miami routes and was over a week behind actual dates. I did send seatspy a note but haven't had a response.

Yes - their data has been way off recently on several routes. I had alerts for a flight which then said seats available, rang Virign and nothing available.Seat spy still said there was availability for a further 48hrs when there wasn’t.

On the flip side seat spy said no availability but I chanced it and rang Virgin and there was availability.

I messaged seat spy and cancelled my subscription and they refunded me.

I might have to do the same - I sent them a message about it, but no response just yet.

Seems a shame as they were so accurate for the longest time. Anyone got any other recommendations?

I wonder whether these sites were previously scraping data to get availability.. with the new website requiring Flying Club login to even search reward availability, perhaps that has blocked them from being updated?

Of course these sites scrape… that’s how they all work.

Yes, fair enough - having not used Seatspy I didn't want to claim definitively that it did - my main point is that what's probably stopped it working is the new VS website requiring a login before being able to access the reward availability.

I too had some inaccuracies on Seatspy recently - albeit when looking at the corresponding flight on Expertflyer, only two seats had gone in upper!!

I have stuck with SeatSpy and set up an alert. This has paid dividends as I have now been able to change the original return flight from ATL to my preference of MCO :D
