VS19/VS20 schedule changes

I tried my best to search the archives and ensure I am not repeating an existing thread here but lock me up like a chastity belt if I am.

So...

I just noticed that as of 26 March, VS020 will depart SFO at 15:30 -- a full 30 minutes earlier than what I am used to -- arriving LHR at 10:30am the following day, or 25 minutes earlier than the flight has landed in the past. Pretty much apples to apples in terms of flight time.

But, as of 26 March, VS019 experiences a schedule change, departing at the usual time of 11:00 and arriving SFO at 12:50 -- a full 1 hour and 15 minutes earlier than it has typically.

So here's a stupid question (my speciality [:o)]) -- how do they manage to fly so much faster on the VS019 leg? Plotting a shorter route? Gunning the engines?

Anyone who can shed light on this for me would find me most appreciative!

It's because the US change their clocks forward/back on different days to those in Europe each year. So at some points in the year, we're either 7 or 9 hours ahead (usually for a week).

The UK switches on the last Sunday in March, whereas the US switch on the first Sunday in April.

This also has the potential to really mess with people's heads, too

Yeah, I'm affected by this on my inbound VS020 on 1st April (nice that Novell have managed to schedule BrainShare right around the clock changes again ) - I was wondering if they'll open check-in & the CH an hour earlier to compensate?

(BTW, current schedule shows VS020 departure at 1645hrs )
