VS075, so you don't like flyglobespan then??? It's not a comparison just pointing out what they are doing, so get off your high horse!! But to put you right on a few points, they aren't easyjet doing long haul, they offer a 767 with economy, prem economy & business class. The aircraft are second user (although some 737's are new). They aren't expanding THAT fast, just adding a couple more 767's for next year, although they do have 2 787's on order. As for success, the current flights are very busy. If you can do better & setting up & expanding an airline then go ahead & do it.
The 2007 flights are on a Saturday & only for 6 weeks, but who knows what 2008 has to offer!!!!!!!!
I never said I didn't like flyglobespan. My opinion about them is that the rate that they are expanding their long-haul network its taking a big risk. By all means good luck to themm its just that if the markets there then other carriers would've already done so, right?
If their flights are very full already then you must mean short-haul plus the GLA-SFB route. Whether all their future long-hauls will be busy too remains to be seem.
As for comparison, the only route that I can compare GSM with VS will be Glasgow-Florida. GSM fly to Sanford and VS will fly to Orlando Intl. I made the comment on preferring to fly with an airline into MCO is because I've used that airport 3 times before and were good. OK having your luggage scanned twice upon arrival might be a little over the top but its unavoidable, and for all we know by 2050 all airports in the world might have to do this. As for SFB, some family have used it before and have said that they would prefer MCO but couldn't because of cost.
A for 'easyJet going long-haul' they are a low fares airline after all? And easyJet is the first word that comes to many peoples minds when 'low-cost air travel' is mentioned. It was merely a stereotypical comment.
As for fleet expansion. Another 767 is due by the end of the year and they will be getting another 767 plus 2 757s. To reiterate what I said before VS didn't expand that rapidly when they started off, and again, long-haul is a more riskier market than short-haul.
If I could set up my own airline I would. Can I borrow £30m please from you, your investment will be repaid in full by the end of the decade plus as many shares as you like when it's floated on the LSE;)
If I don't like a particular airline I would've said so in plain English. Ryanair and Excel are two of them. (And I'm not gonna argue about this)
